I've ridden close to 400 miles since I purchased this Cateye cycle computer and been quite pleased with it, but I didn't want to submit a review until I had a chance to measure the computer's accuracy. On my previous bike, I used a Trek cycle computer (wired). The distance measurement the two computers gave for my home to office commute were slightly off. I didn't know which one to believe. So the other day I rode along the Mt. Vernon trail, and when I passed mile marker 17, I checked the Cateye's odometer. When I passed mile marker 18, the odometer was accurate to the hundredth decimal place. I was very impressed.

Raves:

Accuracy

Size, style and installation (looks great mounted to the stem)

ClickTec ease of use (with the Trek I had to fumble with buttons along the top and bottom)

No ugly wires

Rants:

Requires 2 batteries

One time I hit a big bump and the angle of the wheel sensor changed enough so that the magnet and it began to hit each other

2/2/08 UPDATE: The tab on the bracket broke off when I popped the Strada out. I blame the winter cold stressing the plastic. I reported the breakage to Cateye, and then sent me a full parts kit (for mounting a sensor and bracket on a second bike) free of charge. Excellent customer service.

Very nice product, little and compact, very easy to read it and to scroll from differents screens just one click of the "screen" (Hide button.)

The installation is in minutes, no tools you'll need, only common sense and the instruction sheet.

The batteries are very easy to find them and cheap to.

It comes with all the features you need in a ride.

Don't waste your time looking for an other cyclocomputer, this is a very good choice.

I am new to cycling over the last year and I needed to get a cycle computer to track speed and distance on longer training rides. After much research I settled on this device. For purposes of this review I ride a 2008 Specialized Allez Elite.

Installation:

Very easy. The magnet attaches to a spoke on the front tire by simply twisting a tightening screw. It has not moved in over 200 miles of riding. The sensor for the magnet attaches to the front fork using included zip ties. I have vibration dampening inserts in the area where I needed to attach it and still had no problem doing so. It was very easy to position the sensor within the required distance of the passing magnet. I have never needed to adjust its position. The receiver / display unit attached to the stem easily

Programing:

I read through the instructions once, followed along doing what it told me, and after the third time it was intuitive and straight forward. Yes, it is a bit different, but not difficult by any means.

Accuracy:

If you have the correct tire size set, this device is DEAD ON down to the hundreth of a mile on 30+ mile rides. I mapped a ride this weekend that was 31.45 according to GMAP Pedometer. My cue sheet was 100% accurate for the entire ride, and my final mileage was 31.46 (a difference of 0.01 miles.) TIP: Sit on the bike with the rear tire's valve stem at the lowest point and make a mark on the ground with chalk. Roll forward in a straight line with your weight on the bike until the valve stem finishes one full rotation and is again at the lowest point, marking this spot on the pavement with chalk. Measure the distance between the two spots in milimeters and this is the number you should have entered into the device. Their included chart is good, but this method is the best.

DISPLAY:

Easy to navigate while riding (one touch scrolling) and highly visible. The entire device acts as a button when sitting in the cradle, so tapping it firmly anywhere will toggle through the display-a great design.

Honest reviews on CatEye Strada Wireless Bicycle Computer (Black) CC-RD300W

This product is all they say. The best part is when I called the mailer

for some help, as the product wasn't working at first. I actually spoke with a human!! The advise was right on the money. I couldn't install it on the right upper fork, so I put it on the bottom instead. The sensor is very senative when aligning it with the magnet. I love it so much, I'm thinking about purchasing another for my husband.

I love this computer and gave it 5 stars. I went with this computer after much debate between it and a wired version due to the fact that I was worried the wireless function wouldnt work well on a mountain bike but it hasnt failed me yet.

Installing the devise was easy, the directions are easy to follow and understand and actual setup was a snap. The only thing I was concerned about was the size, it is quite small after looking at the larger images of the thing then taking it out of the box was a shocker.

In use, it is a great design and very easy to use, you can actually use the entire computer with one finger. When the computer is in the bracket, simply pushing down on the bottom section of the computer cycles through the menu's. I like the fact that the current speed is the bigger display no matter what sub menu your on, making it easy to read and understand. Sub menu's include: Time, Time of ride, Distance Ridden, Distance2(Dual Distance), Average Speed, Max Speed, Odo. The one feature it doesnt have which might have been nice is cadence but Im not a roadie so it is kinda minor.

Another nice aspect is the fact that it is water proof, important because last summer I got caught in pouring rain 3 or 4 times, I also landed in puddles of water and mud a couple of times as well :-) The computer fits in the cradle very securely so there is almost no chance of it falling off the bike in a spill, (tried and tested).

I highly recommend this computer if your looking for a computer that is easy to use

Great cassette for Triathletes. Very light and a good product for TT bikes. Sram red technology is almost the top.

Best Deals for Sram XG-1090 X-Dome Red Cassette

First let me say that this RED cassette is absolutely excellent. I upgraded from a stock cassette, and the difference in ride performance was like night and day.

With that said, when I first received this cassette it arrived in the correct box and was sealed as if it came from the factory. I was about to take it to my bike shop for installation, but decided to open the box to take a look first. To my surprise, there was a SRAM PG1070 cassette in the SRAM XG1090 box! The XG costs about $200 more than the PG, so as one might imagine I was quite upset. I called Amazon and they took care of it very quickly, so no long term complaints, but it just goes to show that you can't always trust the box that your product gets delivered in.

Honest reviews on Sram XG-1090 X-Dome Red Cassette

Great delivery and wait until you get it off the box. It is also super quiet... You need to experience it, if you need to upgrade, you won't regret getting this one. PS. Works well with SRAM RIVAL.

There is nothing better than this cassette for your SRAM setup. I have full 2010 SRAM red grouppo and needed to upgrade the cassette. This 2012 SRAM red works flawlessly with the older set and makes it much quieter to shift. This is incredibly light too. You won't believe how light it is when you pick it up out of the box. Fantastic craftsmanship, not cheap, but excellent upgrade if you need a new cassette.

Arrived on time. needed an emergency replacement on my scooter so I ended up with these Michelin's. they seem to be good tires, they grip the road well and have pretty good thread on them. My only complain is that I'm a bit afraid to pull the brakes to hard since the will easily slide on the road like they did on me this morning. It may be because they're new to me..? I'll keep them and see how it goes. but over all a good tire.

Upgraded the cockpit and drivetrain on a second-hand Specialized Stumpjumper Comp that I use for single track and trail riding. Paired this X.9 front derailleur with an SRAM X.0 indexed trigger shifter. Easy installation and adjustment, though the high clamp competes for space with the down tube bottle cage mount. Shifting has been smoother and more precise than the stock mid-level Deore component.

The generator was much better than expected. I had a more powerful unit that could not withstand the elements (rain, mud, etc.) but this unit, although less powerful, is rugged.

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

I bought one of these and set it up on my bicycle back when they carried the BELL brand name, but it's the same unit now that it's sold under the X Factor brand name.

This light is easy to install and set up. Clamp the front bracket to your front forks and adjust so that the bottle dynamo driveshaft is in line with a radius line drawn from the axle. Attach the rear light similarly. Be sure that the ground screw goes into the frame enough that you have a nice circuit or else it won't work. I think a lot of people don't know what the ground screw is for.

String the wire between the generator and the headlamp and the generator and the rear lamp and off you go.

I ride my bicycle for exercise very early in the morning and this system throws plenty of bright white light with the halogen bulb. People can see you better than with reflectors and you can see them. You can also see objects in the road, potholes, cracks, puddles, etc. I really do think it's very, very bright. The rear light gives off a nice bright red glow as bright as the tail light on a car or motorcycle, though it is a lot smaller.

It does turn off when you are not in motion because it is driven by friction from the wheel turning. I have an auxiliary battery-powered rear light for that, but also reflectors keep you visible.

For $20, you really can't go wrong. They do create a bit of noticeable drag depending upon how heavy your bike is, but it's not bad. Since I ride my bike for exercise, the extra drag is good.

Bulbs last a long time if it's wired up well and maintained well (make sure those contacts are clean and bright!). I bought and installed my first one of these back in 2003 and have ridden my bike an hour and a half a day three to four times a week in that time and I haven't had to replace a bulb yet. You can get bulbs on line pretty easily or at reflectalight on the web.

Installing this kit will double the value of your old 1970s era Columbia!

Best Deals for X Factor 3-Inch Bicycle Generator Light Set

Thought I was getting a good deal with the price. Good price, but the product is lacking in quality. Used it a couple times, then once I got above 20 mph riding the generator wouldn't produce a charge. Overheated very easily. If you gently ride and know how to install it's worth the money, but if you're like me and do a lot of fast riding then it's not worth it. Would have scored higher with a better review if the product was better made.

Honest reviews on X Factor 3-Inch Bicycle Generator Light Set

One issue I had is No Instruction!!! it is very difficult to install this thing.

-This generator is designed to be mounted at the front so the headlight has a shorter wire than the taillight.

In my case, my front fork is too fat so I had to mount it at the back. Then I found out the only way I could

do that is to mount it on the left side (the side without the chain ). It is the only place that you can mount

the dynamo so that when you press the lever it should swing toward the tire to engage the dynamo.

-I also realize that by mounting it at the back, my headlight wire will not reach the dynamo bottle. Also

I would have extra wire length for the tail light; so I had to improvise. Note that each light and the dynamo

has only one positive terminal. The negative terminal is the bike frame so make sure you have good electrical

contact with the bike.

--I figured out how to mount the dynamo but the lights, I had to strap it to the bike using plastic zip ties.

I just don't know how to do it otherwise. I ended up with some screws and bracketts that I had no clue what

to do with them. You may find yourself making a trip to the hardware store to make this work.

-While I tested it worked well enough. The lights are not supper bright but good enough. One thing I like

is the friction wheel (drive wheel) is very quiet. I could hardly hear it or feel it. Note the lights are Not LED.

I opened up and check.

-The drive wheel is plastic but it is hard enough that I don't think it will wear out easily.

-I also tested the voltage with a meter. It can go as high as 9V AC no load, and the current is 0.5 Amps so there

is some extra margin. After you connect the light, the voltage will drop.

Here are some numbers:

The friction wheel diameter is 19 mm which mean if you bike at 15 km / hour or 10 mile / hour, it will turn

at 4200 RPM

The dynamo bottle has two diameters: 4cm and 1.4cm

The total heigh is 8cm and the heigh of the lower part is 3.2cm

fairly small dynamo bottle.

Overall it works fine, if you want a cheap generator. Personaly I would go for the 12V 6W dynamo.

Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for X Factor 3-Inch Bicycle Generator Light Set

I own an older light set and dynamo (Made in "West Germany") that I pulled off of an old race bike. I got a new bike so I figured let me purchase a new dynamo to compliment it.

My first complaint with this product is that after a certain speed it cuts out. I haven't experienced this with any other generator, but it's extremely inconvenient when you pick up speed as things are getting dark and the light cuts out. To remedy this in I substituted the old dynamo back.

After my second ride, my lights began to flicker after hitting some bumps in the trails (bad connections). Tightened everything up but the plastic bulb holder inside the tail light cracked on me rendering the light useless. So, I substituted the old red light in the back.

As of now I am three days into using the product and 2/3 of the product is already out of commission/not being used. The front light seems to be holding up, but the only problem is when I adjust it it temporarily loses connection and I'll have to tap it to get it running again (happens with bumps too, so I'll have to open him up and see if everything is tight inside).

Overall, I trust the deals in Amazon, they always treated me well. This product though is a perversion of the older dynamo's that used to be sold. At least it shipped to my house quickly :-/.

Cheap Slime Smart Tube

Slime Smart Tube
Customer Ratings: 3.5 stars
Buy Now
I bought a pretty nice hybrid bike for my son (Diamnondback Trace sport). It had Presta valves and one of his idiot friends let all of the air out. When pumping it back up I didn't properly seal the tire and there was a bulge between the rim and tire and the inner tube blew. So I bought this tube with a Schrader valve, drilling out the rim for the larger diameter valve. I went for a 6 mile bike ride and noticed the tire looked almost flat. I had no choice but to ride it another 6 miles back to the car with this 'almost flat' looking tire. pumped up the tire with my car start booster box and it's just fine, even after riding 12 miles with a really low tire. I'm guessing the green slime inner tube allowed me to make the trip in this condition. i plan on buying another one for the front tire even though it doesn't actually need a tube, I'd rather be safe than sorry :-)

Click Here For Most Helpful Customer Reviews >>

This is good to use on a hybrid or commuter bike where reliability is more important than performance. You can feel that this tube is heavier, but it really doesn't slow you down that much. If it saves you from having to patch a tube on the way home from work then it's probably worth it in my opinion.

Best Deals for Slime Smart Tube

I haven't punctured the item yet but it is holding air well. First ride out on factory tubes: piece of glass. Popped this in and is holding up since purchase.

Honest reviews on Slime Smart Tube

When the tubes that came on my Schwinn bicycle finally gave out after a year of daily use (Performance Bicycle doesn't use cheap), I had them replaced at a local place, and those tubes crapped out after about a month. I decided I'd replace them myself, so I couldn't complain about lazy work and cheap materials, and I chose these for the replacement. It's now been almost six months, and I haven't had a single issue, even with a few accidental run-ins with gravel or glass. Well worth the money.

If you are just a trail rider this would be a great lightwieght wheel, But if you are flying over rocks and doing anything technical I would not recomend this wheel. I have to say, I was very eager to receive this product. After reading the many negative posts, though out shined by the positive posts, I was eager to see what this product was made of. I was very pleased at how easy it went together. The instructions were not too bad so they could not be understood. I also had a little help from a You Tube video I came across during my research of this product. I have posted the instructional videos in an earlier post, prior to me receiving the product.

As for the trailer, I think over all it is a great buy for the money. Very well build, and not to hard to fold for storage. The initial assembly took me less than five minutes. It is pretty self explainatory for the most part. Remember, you are only spending less than $150.00 with shipping and tax. For the money it is a great buy. Every product has its pros and cons. If you want less cons, and much more pros, then I suggest spenting $500.00 plus on some of the top of the line trailers.

I would not put my daughters in anything deemed unsafe, by any means. Right off the bat, if you are towing this trailer on a busy residential or city street, there is already a potential for an accident to occur from a motorist(even with the included orange flag). If you want to the decrease the potontial of an accident that is completely out of your control, I suggets you keep to usuing this bike trailer on a unshared bike path, or campground. Which is our intended use. Too many people out there that should not be driving. No matter how careful a bicyclist you are.

As I said, the trailer assembly was easily assembled. In time, with practice, I am sure I will develop a system on breaking this down in under 3 minutes. Both rear tires held air to the maximum psi recommended. As did the stroller tire. It has a comfortable 'bench seat' for one or two children. And it even has a seat and floor board so your little passengers will not be siting in a 'hammick" like seat and it will protect them from the elements of the road. It has a bug screan, with plenty of ventilation and a rain flap that folds up when not in use. The entire canopy is held taunt with industrial grade velcro. And the material of the entire trailer is double stitched and not made from flimbsy nylon. Which suprised me based on some other posts. It has a 3 way harness for either one or two passengers. I suggest you buy a harness anti-chafing covers. Which can be bought for $5.00 each where they sell childrens car seats and strollers. It also has shock absorbers on each wheel. There is even a storage area in the rear, for your necessities. It is not bad as far as the size of the storage space, in relation to the size of the entire trailer. It also has 6 reflectors, 2 on the front, two in the reat, and two on the wheels. Unlike some other trailer/stroller combination, the front wheel (which is included) is kept securely in a designated place on the rear of the trailer when not in use. The arm for conecting the trailer to the bicycle folds underneth the trailer. This way everything stays together, and you do not have to carry extra parts/pieces when riding/walking. The universal clasp fit right onto my rear quick release without any incident. And there is a spring in the arm which bends and swivels. So if you dump your bike, the trailer stays upright. When I was riding, I did not even know I was towing. I believe most of the negative posts are for the Aosom Trailer, which is offer on Amazon for $114.00 and not the Elite 11 for $134.00. I suggets spending the additional $20.00 and getting a trailker/stroller with a lot less negative issues.

Now for the real test. I think I was more excited to get this trailer working than my daughter was. She is of average height for a 19 month old, and weighs about 28 pounds. With her helmet on, she had plenty of head room. Although, with the helmet on, it does push her head slightly foward, but not to the point where she was uncomfortable and wanted to get out. While we were riding she loved it. She was waving to everyone we saw. She thought she was on a Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade Float. And this is a very active child. And she did not want to get out.She even fell asleep in it 2 hours before her nap! Once we got to the store usuing a bike path and very low traffic roads, I converted it to the stroller. And what a sigh of relief not to have to remove my slepping daughter from the trailer, lock up the bike and trailer, and carry her (or let her run, with me chasing her everywhere) once we got to our destination.

The brakes are nothing more than 2 bars the rub against the tires to slow down the stroller, not completely stop it. So if you plan to use this for jogging soley, I suggest you spend more money on a stroller with an adequate braking device or a true jogging stroller. It also does not have an emergency brake, which is why I gave it 4 stars. So if you are at the top of an incline, YOU MUST HOLD ON! Other than that, for the money, this trailer is great. I cannot wait for my infant to be of age to use this trailer with her older sister.

I would recommend this to families who intend to use this for recreactional or light erands only. Not for daily jogging or as another means of daily transportation. If your intended use is for the latter, I suggest you make the increased investment.

A few things I would like to see this company upgrade in future models is the following:

!. Make some more room for the back of childs head while wearing the helemet.

2. An emergency brake so you do not have to constantly hold it while in stroller mode. ( It did not tip over with my daughter and her diaper bag in the storage area).

3. It has pocket built in on either side of the interior. Perhaps a drink and snack holder could be incorporated.

$. Folded, it is quite heavey. When assembled, the weight is distributed. Though, it would be nice if it were a bit lighter.

This is a good product. I have already listed the pros in the first part of my post. For a person that does not ride everyday, I could not see spending $500.00 plus on something I might use several times, or less, a month. If your bicyle is your primary means of transportation, than I would make the increased investment. For me and my family, this trailer/stroller is perfect for our life style. Remember, you get what you pay for.

Really happy with it. Works great; relatively easy to setup; comfortable and I trust it...

Couple of Cons:

The front wheel is not too easy to take off. It works without tools, which is great, but it takes you some time unscrewing in an awkward position. They could have designed that better, and I will probably change it myself.

The brake is a little too close to the tire, and you can't really change it.

Our children (both under 3 years old) do not fit next to each other; they both have to sit a little to the side. Honestly a big disappointment to me, as we wanted something comfortable to take them on long walks in one stroller.

All in all still a good buy; you really can't beat this price for such great quality

This is what we needed. My son is 4 and to big for the normal jogging stroller. This is just what the mama ordered :) Its big enough for him to lounge and play with toys. I was scared that it was going to be hard to put together myself but was super easy. The only thing that I dislike is the fact the small front tire came full of air but the larger ones didn't. But they are stable enough to hold use until we get ourselves to the gas station to fill air in them and then I will in turn by a hand pump for this kind of occasion again.

Yes it does Presta valves. No you are not missing any pieces. Yes the instructions on the box make no sense at first. Unscrew the head and you'll see a rubber stopper. It doesn't look it it comes out but lift the lock and you can pull it out. Then flip the two parts according to those instructions that now make more sense and put everything back together.

As for how it works, it does its job. Has a nice attachment to go under a bottle cage and feels nice and secure. As for inflating a tire, going from a new tube to 140psi is a pain. That's what a floor pump is for. This is for when you are out and need to go from a flat to enough to get back home. I bought this thinking I could only use this and after a few days, I bought a floor pump. That's not to say it can't get the job done, its just doing a job its not made to do.

I got lucky, had this pump on my bike for only 2 days and then got a flat. Worked like a charm. Easy to attach to bike and the frame bracket that comes with this pump allows you to install this under a water bottle cage. This frees up for another water bottle cage! Good value for the money.

Best Deals for Topeak Mini MasterBlaster Bike Pump

It took me a solid fifteen minutes of dedicated tinkering to figure out that there wasn't a hidden Presta-valve adapter or anything, but the top of the pump needs to be completely disassembled a flipped around in order to work with Prestas. Once I got past that ridiculous obstacle though, I've had nothing but good fortune with this pump--it's gotten dirty, clogged, bashed around, and still is a great way to fill up my tires on the go. 10-15 pumps usually do it for me. Very recommended.

Honest reviews on Topeak Mini MasterBlaster Bike Pump

I ride a road bike with tires that need to be inflated to 120 psi. I have used this pump several times when I have punctured a tire and this was enough to get me home. However it is not possible to use this pump to inflate beyond 100 psi with this pump. I upgraded to the turbo morph with gauge (also by topeak) and I'm really happy with that purchase. However if you ride a mountain bike then this is sufficient.

This bike pump is small, easy to use, and can attach to the same portion of the bike as the water bottle cage. That way you can always have the pump with you in case of emergencies! I really like that aspect of it.

I have been wanting to try these tires for over a year now, and finally found them for a decent price(about $30 apiece). They look great and ride great on rough city streets, packed dirt and gravel. So far, they seem to be as tough as advertised, but it is still too early for me to fully affirm their flat resistance. They are not racing tires but they are about as fast as touring tires I've had but with better grip, and without the drag of cx or mtb tires. Cons: The "anti-pinch flat" bead is a hassle to seat properly and bulged off when I first fully inflated them(some more work and care is required, but they are fine once properly on). Also, there was an incident were the black comp seemed to be melting into the white, but after an hour of riding I couldn't find any evidence of it. Overall, these are vary functional, cool looking tire that are well worth the price I paid.

UPDATE 9.9.12:

We've been using this trailer behind our bikes regularly now to pull our growing 16 month old. I still feel it's an overall excellent trailer and value, but I would still love a few changes. My main gripe is still that there aren't enough ventilation options. The main front panel has a screen cover, but if it starts raining (twice on us now) you either have to leave it open which means your child gets wet from the direct rainfall AND your rear tire spray, or close it and risk them getting hot. If the side panels also unzipped, you could close the front panel and open the sides to still allow ventilation while keeping most of the rain out till you can get back to the car.

But I have a new issue, and am wondering if others have encountered this problem. I can't air the tires up. The tubes/stems are Schrader valves, and when I try to put my pump on them they simply sink into the rim too low to get the pump on, and then I can't get air into them. This could be solved in one of two ways. Use tubes with longer Schrader valves, or switch to tubes that use threaded Presta valves. With a threaded Presta you can put a small nut on the stem that keeps it from sinking into the rim, and that would allow you to air the tires up. While there isn't a lot of weight on the tires, our last trip I noticed the trailer tended to swerve back and forth more than normal and I believe this was because of the low tire pressure, so they don't have the stability they should.

Anyway, the manufacturer has addressed some of the other concerns from these reviews, so it's good to see that they are actively engaged with their customer base. I do like the trailer and will continue to use it, and hopefully Montalban will continue to tweak and improve an already excellent product.

Sorry for the long update, you will find the original review below. Thanks!

First let me say for the price this is an excellent trailer. We had looked at a few from Burley and Chariot, plus some of the less expensive models such as the Instep line that Amazon sells. We found our trailer at Costco as others mentioned for less than the price here, and being able to put hands on it was nice too so we could check out the quality a bit before we purchased.

Assembly was super easy. That is, there is no assembly other than what it usually takes to "assemble" it from a collapsed storage position to the ready to use position. It has an aluminum tube frame all the way around that really makes it seem sturdy, and from the car to ready to pull takes all of a minute or so.

After a few bike rides and a jogging trip, here are my pros and cons:

Pros Cycling:

-Pulls easily and very smooth, even at speeds that most recreational cyclists will not usually reach

(note: manual states trailer should not be pulled faster than 8mph. I can't coast at 8mph, and I feel very comfortable pulling the trailer faster. While I am still not sold on the long term durability of the quick-release wheel system of the trailer, I do not see any reason why this particular setup would hold up at 8mph and fail at 15mph. That is just my opinion, again the manual says the speed limit is 8mph on the trailer).

-Very easy to attach to bike, and there is ample room for your left foot/heel when pedaling (I have a size 15 shoe)

-Turns easily and tightly, you can turn around in less than the width of a normal street with no issues

Cons Cycling:

-Seat and harnesses are the weakest part of this trailer. The straps are difficult to adjust, and instead of using simple snap buckles for the retention they use a D-ring and hook setup which makes buckling and unbuckling much more difficult.

-There is nothing to keep the pads on the chest harness, so they want to slide off every time you go to use them, and the buckle ends up buried halfway up the pad, which leaves you trying to dig it out with a child that just wants to get going. I understand a nicer setup is more expensive, but I'd pay a bit more for a better harness system. After all, when cycling it's important that your child is strapped in well should a crash occur. Something between what they have now and lower-end car seat setup would be better.

-Only the front panel is mesh for airflow, which allows possibly more wind than you'd like and debris to blow straight into the trailer (yes, a surprising amount of debris can enter through the screen window). Side panels do not zip out, which would be nice for indirect and cross ventilation on warmer days

-There are loops at the very top of the front window/door area for keeping the mesh and/or solid windows rolled up, but they are either up or down, no in between. If a couple more of these retainer loops were sewed on, you could have the solid window halfway down for instance, which would limit airflow directly on the face but still allow ventilation on cooler days.

-The flag is nice, but I would like a good sturdy loop on the back side of the trailer to install flashing lights, just like on the bike. This is probably an easy-enough modification. There is a reflector back there however.

Pros Jogging:

-Trailer rolls very smoothly, cushioned hand grip is nice

-Hand grip is a good height, my wife (short) and me (tall) both find it comfortable

-You can push the trailer without kicking the bottom of it

Cons Jogging:

-Fixed front wheel setup is long and well, fixed...which makes turning pretty much impossible without lifting the front wheel. I know you don't want a fast-swivel wheel if you are running and pushing this thing, but it's also hard to keep a good pace on a curvy path if you are having to push down on the rear handle to lift the front wheel just to turn.

-More ventilation options would be nice (same as with cycling)

It sounds like I have a lot of cons, but it's more of a wishlist. We like this trailer, and with the exception of the harness system it really is an excellent setup for the money.

As the manufacturer of this trailer I wanted to clarify a couple concerns and rumors for the many people who are referencing this message board.

1) The primary concern for most users is the jogger vs swivel wheel. I cant argue that folks either love fixed wheel jogger wheels or don't. Fixed jogger wheels are not intended to turn and as a result are suited to street or running path jogging use. They are not great for suburban or sidewalk use and because this is a 2-in-1 vehicle it is indeed heavier than a standard 3 wheel jogger. For that reason we are indeed offering a pivoting wheel retrofit kit that will have a pivot or stroller style wheel. These are much better fit to suburban lifestyle where you might use this unit on sidewalks or just for strolling rather than running. This will be available around the end of July.

2) Jogger wheel alignment is easily corrected if it is pulling one way or another. In some cases this is simply because the trailer is loaded unevenly or the front wheel may need to be adjusted. There is an instruction video on our website on how to adjust the wheel and it takes seconds to do.

3) The retention system is designed according to government testing requirements and as a result we have very little lee-way on the location of straps and the tightness of straps. It is true that in bulky clothing or diapers the crotch strap is extremely tight and seemingly unusable. We are working with CPSC regulators on this issue to try to have the requirements adjusted to a more reasonable position. There is however no change in production as some users have commented. It should also be noted that the shoulder straps are widely adjustable and in most cases re-aligning these on the rear ladder of the seat back will make the lower straps fit more comfortably.

We appreciate the detailed comments and feedback as we continue to improve this trailer/jogger and offer users the best value for their money. In our opinion this trailer can't be beat for value for performance but we are always looking to do better. Our customer service office is there for you no matter where you purchased the trailer we look forward to assisting. Happy Trails!

Easy to put together and pulls very easily with the bike but after a month of use an only using it about 10 times I'm going to see about returning it to Costco. The stinking rain fly ripped away from zipper so now there is a huge gaping hole! Not sure how they could make a KID carrier that flimsy. Also the seat belts are ridiculous and there really isn't much room in it for two kids. My 2year old and 4 year old were completely squished (they are in the 30th percentile for weight so aren't big by any means)

Honest reviews on Montalban Trailer 3 with Jogger Conversion - Folds Flat for Storage

I think this is a better trailer than jogger, but I use it for both rather than having two bulky pieces filling my garage. I'm not totally in love with this stroller; it's not the "best" jogger or stroller or trailer probably, but for a compromise of having those things all in one, it seems to combine the most important features, even if leaving out other convenient ones.

Pros:

-Narrow enough to fit through doors and use for just one child.

-Pretty easy to convert.

-Front wheel can be adjusted to minimize pull.

-Storage in the back.

-Really easy to pull on the bike.

-Fixed wheel-I see a lot of people complaining about the fixed wheel. When I have bought just joggers, I've always bought one with a swivel and fixed wheel, because swivels are so nice for walking, BUT, if you want to jog, you really need a fixed wheel.

Cons:

-Unlike regular jogging strollers, these seats are not formed enough to hold a child in a sitting position. This is the only stroller I haven't been able to put an infant in comfortably. Even at a year old, he goes into a weird slouch. When the baby has fallen asleep, there is nothing to support his head and the straps cut into his neck.

-Straps are a PAIN! First, the pads don't stay on and move around so much that it is hard to get kids strapped in and even when the pads are on, they slip down leaving bare straps by the kids' necks-ouch. The crotch strap + the lack of posture in the seat means that my younger son ends up with the crotch strap digging in on one side.

-Brake. I almost never use the brake because of how cumbersome it is to clip around the wheel. I imagine that a foot brake is dangerous for a bike trailer, so maybe that's why there isn't one, so another reason not to buy this just as a jogger.

-Not good for outings. This is not great for the zoo, or just a casual outing because it is so long, so hard to brake, and doesn't fold very compactly.

-So far my 1 and 4 year olds fit fine, but I do worry that it will be too small for two kids before they get very big.

Talked to someone at Via Velo in customer service today about these reviews, he informed me that the crotch strap issue has been fixed and that the second shipment to Costco's should be the revised ones. Also Costco is very understandable when it comes to returns. As for the fixed wheel they are making it available to purchase a pivot wheel for around $35.00 that will be able to attach to model. So there...all problems solved...am purchasing tomorrow and feel very comfortable with my decision.

I've used these tires for a while and have had solid performance with no issues at all. It can be a bit of a challenge to install but once you dial it in its fairly easy to do going forward. To prevent flats put Stans No-Tube (about 2oz)in after installing and you're good to go. I've had audible flats and they seal in about 20 seconds and dropped the psi from 130 to about 90. Never stopped and rode home, pumped it up back to 130 and have had no issues since. I would shop around on Amazon as prices can vary.

Very happy. Been riding sew ups for about 20 years. These roll nice and and seem to wear well. Great training tire. Will definetly purchase again.

Honest reviews on Tufo 700x21 S33 Pro Tubular Tire

I've been through several sets of these tires now. The first time I let the manufacturer convince me it was my fault that the tire failed. It happened on the second set as well and I'm through. Let me explain.

I had the rear tire on one set "shift" in relation to the presta valve/rim. It caused a major bulge in the tire and the wheel felt like it was hopping. The manufacturer advised this was "not unheard of," and I should reset the wheel on the rim and it would go back to normal (i.e. the hop would go away.) It did not. I thought that I would watch more closely and ordered another set. Why not? I'd liked the concept of the tubular-clincher though I can't say I saw much in the way of improved performance. But I'm not a racer, so I don't know that I would.

The second set didn't do much better. The front tire failed this time, bulging and causing the sidewall to fail: air leaked rapidly from the side walls. The valve shift was very subtle and I did not notice it. I had used the sealant for these tires and thought maybe it was just dried-out. No go. I added more sealant and spun the tire to "distribute" it. HUGE bulge and hop at the valve.

If you want a tire that may fail before it wears-out, by all means get these.

Pros: high pressure, clean looks, less likely to go flat when you use sealant, and low rolling resistance

Cons: harder to mount, not easy to fix roadside flat (unless you carry a whole spare tire,) not very durable when they "shift" on the rim.
