I installed the Kolpin two-piece Lexan windsield on my Polaris 400 two weeks ago and have been very pleased with it. I purchased this unit specifically because the windshield was made of scratch-resistant Polycarbonate rather than soft Acrylic. The parts all seem very sturdy and the window fit perfectly after a little adjustment. The only negative was the poor instructions. Apparently Kolpin decided to save paper and cram what should have been six or more pages into three. The diagrams were so small they were almost unreadable, and it was impossible to determine the most basic but necessary things like top from bottom of the main windshield, left from right on the mounting brackets, and where exactly the foam sealing tape should go. I did a lot of head scratching, but figured it all out eventually. The installation took me about three hours total. Now that I know what I'm doing, I think it could be done in one hour. You will need help when installing the main window.

Some unique tools are required that your average handyman might not have on hand: 5/32" and 3/16" Allen-head sockets and a low-range torque wrench that will read down to 5 ft.-lbs. Those are not mandatory, but recommended. The engineered plastic clamps with the metal thread inserts which hold the unit onto the roll bar are supposed to be torqued to a maximum of 5 ft.-lbs. to avoid damaging them. The instructions do give an alternate torquing procedure if a torque wrench isn't available. One could just use regular Allen wrenches if one were careful.

After completing the installation and with the engine running, I noticed that the lower section of the windshield was vibrating badly against the glare shield. To fix that I applied a 2" bead of RTV between the bottom of the window chafe-guard and the top of the Polaris glare shield in the center, then waited 24 hours for it to cure. It looks like it's going to hold. Kolpin should have included that fix in the instructions.

Driving with the window completely closed causes some exhaust fumes to back-flow into the passenger compartment. I don't think it's dangerous, but you can smell the fumes. For that reason I've been driving with the windshield cracked open to the first notch. In that configuration, the wind flows up and over my head rather than blasting in my face so it's not a problem even in cooler weather.

All in all I'm very pleased with how the Kolpin unit looks and works. I'm definitely glad I decided on this particular unit.

Update: My wife discovered a better fix for the bottom section vibrating against the dashboard. She applied a 3" section of sticky-backed 1/2" foam weather stripping in the gap, and it works perfectly.

I put this on a Polaris 500 efi, fits well and meets product description. Exchanged first because bolts missing. Not a big deal unless the Polaris is 180 miles from the nearest hardware store. Amazon exchanged product which arrived within two days (remote location. I would have preferred to have had all six pages in English, pages five and six were in French. Overall love the product and highly recommend for Polaris Ranger owners. Similar windshield available from Polaris dealer for approximately $100 more.

Well made, good instl instructions. Plastic is quite hard, and remains scratch free so far. Note that this fits the 500EFI too. Only gripe: at certain engine speeds, motor vibration will make the windshield rattle against the cowl of the machine. (probably more Polaris' fault than Kolpin's)

Every thing fit perfectly. It took about 45-60 minutes to install. I didn't waste a lot of time trying to understand the instructions. Just looked at the picture and figured it out.

Even though I made sure I had a perfect tight fit in all areas, there was an irritating vibration noise upon starting the engine. I did as another poster suggested and added an extra $3 rubber strip to the joint where the two pieces meet and used the left over strips to pad around the places where the windshield meets the cowling. Problem solved.

This model of windsheild is good quality and appears to be sturdy but was very disappointed due to fact the winsheild is described as having 3 positions of :1.closed 2. half and 3. full extension. The window does not open any further than perhaps a 8 inch crack. It does not open to even a half position. "Full extension" as the decsribes it leads you to believe it opens further than it does. If you are buying this for hunting or photographing purposes, you will have to remove the top window.Had I wanted to do this, I would have saved money and ordered a half window. Also the photo of windshield shows a smokey or light brown tint. There is no noticeable tint on the window. 2nd problem is the terrible installation instructions that they provide. Pictures of parts are too small to recogzize, the parts packages are not labeled and the diagrams are too small. Took 4 hours and 2 people to install. This by no means was an inexpensive item. I expected more satisfaction. Were shipping not a problem, I would have returned this and ordered another window.

This product is exactly as described. A very fine product, easy to install if you have any mechanical ability at all. However if you're going to install this on a cruiser you'll need a longer shifter cable. The one supplied is 5 feet which is too short for most cruisers. Order the longer cable on line when you buy the wheel and you will save money. Local bike shops tend to rip you good on cables.

I rec'd this conversion kit for my single speed Schwinn cruiser within only a few day's of ordering. It was packaged well with no damage and all of the pieces needed, instructions, etc.. were included. Prior to ordering this kit however I had called our local bike shop to ask in case we couldn't install this kit would they be able too and what the cost would be. They informed me yes they could install it and for only $30(labor fee). After having the kit laying around at home for 2 weeks I decided to take it to the bike shop. In about a 1/2 hour they had it installed, balanced and ready to ride. This conversion kit has made riding my single speed cruiser so much more enjoyable and easy! I would highly recommend this kit to anyone looking to upgrade their bike, the price here was the best I found anywhere by far at least $30-50 less including shipping.

I really like this trike. We just bought 2 for our twins and they are wonderful. My husband and I put them together without any problems. The directions are step by step in picture format. One person posted that the directions were difficult and I would have to disagree. The steering is okay but not that bad. I can push two at the same time. Also the trike is very light weight and the saftey harness is a pluse. Also someone posted to upgrade to the zoo. We tested a trike pluse in the store and it seemed wobbley/cheap. We were going to purchase the deluxe but the store had the zoo only. I am so glad we got the zoo, it is just better quailty from the seat cushion to the tire and peddles. Overall we are happy with the purchase. Advice: purchase when kids are small because you will get a lot of use out of it. Suggestions for change: able to remove the cell phone (use of clip) this way the phone will not drop but can be removed when parents are annoyed with it, canopy is good but would be nice if it can move side to side, bin in the back can fall off if load is too heavy or you hit it just right (connected to bike a little more securly with a bolt or bungee of some sort)---I know you don't want the plastic to crack). These were just some suggestions and I know you can't have it all. There are some serious flaws in this product, first of all I'm a motorcycle mechanic, I take apart and put back together motorcycles for a living, so I thought this should be a piece of cake, but it wasn't like that at all, It took me about an hour to finish putting the thing together only to find out I need to file off a piece of plastic that's touching the steering column,

One more thing is the safety belt, the three point safety belt is far from being safe, it keeps falling from my sons shoulders no matter what setting I put it in or how much I tighten it. Nowadays, anything less then a five point harness and a Harness Clip like this one will not hold any child in place.

UPDATE (Nov 23rd 2011): My son is 1 year and three months old and has out grown the seat belt that's in it's maximal setting... Too bad :-(

The parking brake lever, that's located on the rear axle, is longer then the radius of the wheels so when you go up or down the stairs, it touches the stairs before the left wheel when going up or gust after the wheel when going down. It keeps getting bumped and I have no doubt it will break sooner rather then later.

after your child grows and you plan to take out the plastic part holding the legs of the 6 months baby, you should know that the front wheel is not protected and your baby's legs are not long enough to reach the foot pegs yet, so the legs are in the air, and it's only a matter of time till one of his legs gets clinched between the front fork and the wheel. To avoid that I usually lean on the handle to tilt the trike back so the front wheel is in the air and doesn't spin.

The sunshade is very small and positioned too high so it doesn't do much in shading my child, it's more for looks then it is for sun protection.

It doesn't fold quickly like you would expect from a toy this big that gets to go with you, it needs to be taken into three pieces and then to be put back together.

Bottom line, my son loves the thing and the concept of this product is great but it requires some serious re engineering.

I should start by saying I was sent one of these to review by the company. The twins and I loved it so much after using it a couple times that I immediately ordered a second Smart Trike Deluxe from Amazon.com. Putting the bikes together was simple and painless. The directions are well done and easy to follow.

The smart trike deluxe can be configured in 3 different configurations which correspond to 3 different approximate development phases of your child.

The first configuration is for the 10+ month child. In this set-up it has a wrap around seat, complete with back support, keeping baby in place. It also includes safety straps, a telescopic, parent push handle, and a sun hood to limit exposure. In other words, it's a bit like riding in a bike themed stroller for your little one. Pushing them with the parent handle is a breeze, it controls the actual steering of the bike as opposed to just pushing and muscling the thing along like most bikes.

The picture of my twins above on the Smart Trike Deluxe shows the second configuration, which is aimed at the 15+ month child. Gone is the safety bar, back support, and sun hood. However, in this phase the bike still utilizes the parent push telescopic handle, safety buckles, a cup holder, telephone toy, back tipping bin, and a storage bag. I can lower the handle if my twins want to pedal and steer on their own for a touch, but raise it back up to push them home when they tire. Love it!

The 3rd phase allows for the eventual removal all together of the parent push and steer handle. My twins aren't ready for that stage yet at 21 months but it's so nice to know our bike allows for that when we get there.

Wow! Tricycles have come a long way since I was little. In fact, they've come a long way since my 15 year old was little. Where was this thing when I was hunched over pushing him or dragging his bike home next to me while I carried him?

The overall make-up of the bike is top quality. It has double injection rubber wheels and full metal construction. It was of no surprise to me that the Smart Trike was a "Right Start Best Toy" Award" winner. The deluxe is just one of the models made by the Smart Trike company.

We bought this trike for our son's first birthday primarily due to it's ability to "grow" with him. We've been using it for 8 months now and here's what we love/dislike:

PROS:

1) Easy to assemble. No offense to those who had a tough time but it just wasn't hard. My husband had it together in somewhere between 5 and 10 minutes. It's really fairly self-explanatory without a need to stare at the instructions too much.

2) Convertible. Side bars and a seat belt help ensure your child doesn't fall out. Both are EASILY removable later on when your kid's ready for the plain trike.

3) Push bar. My son loved this but, even at 18 months, is unable to reach the pedals (he is in the 50th percentile for height, if that helps) thus we are always pushing him on it. I wouldn't even want to think about how much of a pain this would be without a push handle!

4) Wagon attachment. This is currently my son's favorite part of the bike because he can put his "wow" objects in it when we go on our walks (pine cones, rocks, etc). It's great for me because I don't have to hold all that stuff! When we get back to the house we can play with all of his nifty finds!

5) Little bag that attaches to push bar. This was just an extra accessory that we initially didn't care about but we have found it REALLY useful! This bike, on short trips, serves as our stroller and this bag is plenty large enough to hold a diaper, wipes, a snack, and a bit more. This means we don't have to carry the huge diaper bag with us!

CONS:

1) Does not steer well. Yes, it does go where you want it to...eventually. DO NOT EXPECT turns to be as easy as those provided by a stroller. It will take effort particularly when your child grows old enough to steer and you try to counteract his choice of direction!

2) Plastic wheels. I know that these are the norm but I still hate them. However, they are holding up well so this isn't too much of a complaint.

I cannot comment on the sunshade as it just looked too dumb to bother with.

We would definitely buy this bike again the pros for us far outweigh the cons!

I bought a Raleigh GRUV bicycle a few months ago so I could do some riding with my girlfriend. The GRUV is an odd looking machine, but it was absolutely the most comfortable bike I test rode. Having not been on a bicycle for over 25 years, I wanted to build some endurance before I got together with my gal for a pleasant weekend ride. After my short "practice" rides in the evenings, I suffered from some mild but noticeable numbness in unmentionable, "manly" areas. I never suffered from this when I was a youngster, so I figured it would pass after I got used to riding again. I figured wrong. I went for my much anticipated weekend "date ride" (about 10 miles worth of nice, paved trails). By the end of the trip, the "comfortable" stock seat on that bike had caused many miserable and painful "sensations". So I did some research and came-up with the Schwinn No Pressure Bicycle Seat. Ordered it right here off of Amazon. Installed easily on the seat post that came with the bike. Took a bit of adjusting to get the height set where I wanted it. It seems more comfortable when it is positioned a little lower than a regular style seat. GOOD LORD what a difference! It does take a bit of getting use to, but once you get the feel of it, you'll love it!! Now I can ride for hours and when I'm done, I don't feel like an alien abduction victim who's been "probed". It's not a 100% solution to the "male pressure" problem but pretty darn close!! If you're a casual bike rider, looking for a comfortable seat, give this one a shot. I'm betting you (and your private parts) will be much pleased and satisfied!!

I got this seat for my mountain bike because I realized that I wasn't a hardcore mountain biker who wants the lightest seat possible with best control; I'm a casual city rider who hates pain between the legs and worries about his man parts. So I was looking for a comfort seat. I compared this with the seats that have two pads and have glowing reviews from people with prostate problems and this was, well, cheaper. It also looks a bit more comfy.

This seat is comfortable to sit on. Very comfortable. Like an office chair or better. If all we did on bikes was sit, this would be the best seat money can buy. However, we also pedal on bikes, and that creates a bit of a problem. Specifically, as you pedal your legs push down on the front edge of the seat on the downstroke and after a while it hurts. Normal bikes (not the cruiser kind) have the center of the pedals right under the seat. That's fine if your seat is a narrow ridge that is squashing your man parts and your legs are dangling off the sides, but if you are sitting on a nice comfy office chair seat, your legs come out in front. So the situation is not optimal. That's why most other prostate protecting comfort seats look really scary: the pads are out behind the seat post, so the post is precariously positioned between your legs. I haven't really tried them, so I won't comment more on them.

Anyway, if you have a bike with a comparatively upright natural position (high handle bars and the like) and especially if you have a bike that has the pedals out in front of the seat, then you are going to absolutely love this seat. When you just sit in it, there really is no pressure. It's shaped like your backside. It's padded. It's really nice.

But I don't have one of those bikes. I have a trek 4500 mountain bike. So here's how I handled it...

At first I lowered the seat, but it feels funny because your knees go out in front and then bend almost underneath you, putting an undue proportion of the work on your thighs. So I raised it up to normal seat height (about the height of the handlebars). Then we run into the upper leg pain from the front edge of the seat. The manual says to keep the seat level, but what do they know? so I angled the seat forward. Ahhh, very comfortable to pedal. And if I want to just sit and coast, I can sit just a bit farther back, almost on the back edge. Not as comfy as an office chair, but pretty good still. I can sit or pedal on this forever (from a soft tissue point of view). Pain between my legs? Zero. Worries for my future sexual prowess? Zero. I love this seat and this setup. When I see a bump on the road, I don't worry about lifting myself off to prevent nasty shocks being transmitted to my most delicate areas. I just sit down and relax. Shocks are spread throughout your bottom. Ahhhh. Makes me want to invest in a recumbent bike next time.

But is there a downside? Oh yes, having the seat angled forward puts a lot of your weight on your handlebars. Result: a crazy workout for your arms. I don't think I have sufficient arm strength to ride this all day long. I never really ride more than my 5 mile commute anyway, so I don't mind a bit. In fact, it's kind of nice. Now riding my bike gives me wicked triceps as well as amazing leg muscles.

So what I'm saying here is, you need to adjust adjust adjust this seat until it's right. Try crazy positions. You might end up very happy like me. Or maybe not.

There's some talk here about trouble controlling the bike. I haven't noticed any significant changes from a horned seat. I guess I wasn't using the horn between my legs much for control. I tend to keep my hands on the handlebars. One time I do notice things a little funny is when I get up to pedal hard for some reason. That's fine, but then when I go to sit back down, my backside has to feel around quite a bit more before I find the seat than it did when I used horned seats. It's not a big deal. Certainly it won't make me want to trade this seat in for anything else.

What would I tell the schwinn people if I was giving them feedback? Well, they should probably address the issue of the seat positioning the rider too far forward on the bike. I wouldn't go to an extreme and start changing fundamentals, but they could have the little bars under the seat that attach to the post come forward just a bit more than they do. That would probably open up this seat to a lot of people. Other than that the design is pretty great.

This seat has eliminated all my backside and between-the-legs pain, which was seriously hindering my enjoyment of cycling. Forget all those people saying you should wear special biking shorts (yeah right), get your seat professionally microfit (doesn't help), or just wait out the pain. This seat takes some adjustment and a bit of getting used to, but I would never go back. In fact, without this seat I won't cycle.

One other small peeve: there is a velvety fake suede surface to this seat. It's fine (in fact it kind of grips your backside) except when you leave your bike in the rain or snow...it holds water and snow more than the usual fake leather stuff.

I've been using this saddle for several years now and I have finally become annoyed enough with its shortcomings to replace it. Specifically, at normal angles, if you ride for a while, the front edge of the seat digs in to the back of your legs and it's uncomfortable. You can angle it up higher but then it doesn't support much of your weight and you are constantly sliding off. Not to mention, the bars underneath don't come very far forward, so the seat is always a little too far forward on my bike (it would be better if my frame was bigger).

I bought the Hobson Easyseat dual pad bicycle seat to replace it and it is much, much better for the following reasons:

* The two seat pads rotate somewhat as your legs move, so they can support you all through the stroke.

* They do an even better job of keeping pressure off your junk than this seat does.

* The surface does not absorb water, has higher friction (so you don't slide off) and overall has a better build quality.

It's a bit heavier and a little bit more expensive than this saddle, but I would definitely suggest using the Hobeson instead of this one unless you have a very upright-style bike with pedals out in front of you and a very upright posture.

TL;DR version: Get the Hobeson Easyseat instead.

WOW!! This seat is great! I had an ileostomy about a year ago, and during the recovery process I gained a lot of weight. This weight, coupled with a very tender backside, meant that I needed an extremely comfortable seat. I saw a seat at Wal-Mart that had springs, gel, and was nine inches wide. When I pushed on it, it seemed like a very comfortable seat so I purchased it. After installing it, I rode approximately two blocks and had to get off, needless to say, I returned it, and purchased this one. This seat is truly a godsend! I don't know how they make it so comfortable, ( there are no springs that I can see ) but it is like sitting on a heavily padded bench. It also adjusts front to back, like a car seat, once it's set, tightening the mounting nuts locks it securely in place. I found this feature handy due to the fact that I'm over six feet tall and needed the leg room. A previous reviewer commented on feeling like they were falling off when riding downhill, I did not have this problem at all, maybe due to my weight. (?) I have nothing bad to say about this seat. Schwinn, ya done good!

Amazon did good too, delivery in only five days!

I recently started biking again as part of a fitness challenge and renewed desire to continue to stay fit. So I combined going to and from work with biking and walking. Sometimes, I bike 15+ miles between morning and evening trips. However, soon after starting biking, my butt and thighs were hurting and getting sore...so men, you are not the only ones with this issue! I am of average proportion and like many others on here I wondered what happened from when I was a little girl. I rode everywhere for hours and the saddle was not even cushioned (I am in pain just thinking back)! I started to buy another gel cover for my saddle, but all they had in the store were whole gel seats...so I decided to give amazon a whirl and found this nifty seat...it stands to reason that without the horn, there should not be any thigh burn issues-and there are none. Changing out the seat was a snap-less than 3 min...I am not experiencing some of the problems with the adjustments that other have, so I am happy. I almost did not buy this because of some of the reviews mentioning this. I am not sure why someone did not come up with this idea eons ago...I know for rding hands-free the horn comes in handy so you can use your body to steer the bike, but other than that is is so 'superfluous'-and-as we all know: a pain in the derriere and places elsewhere. Now, I wonder if this is already out there in gle version. However, I will never ride a bike with a horn again...I want a booty-cradle (After all-if cradles work for babies-they also should work for our bums). Happy trails.

I purchased this seat recently because I thought I would like it better than the hard seat that I previouly had. I really liked the fact that it didn't have a middle part sticking out that was so uncomfortable on my other seat. What I have found is that while it's more comfortable than my other seat, it's not as great as promised. It is much more comfortable once it was properly adjusted but I now have the feeling that I might slip off especially when going across slanted driveways or down hills. I am still on the lookout for the perfectly comfortable seat.

These bike carriers are really great. I mounted them on top of our camper. It makes taking the bikes camping so much easier. The instructions are not detailed, but still very easy to understand. Based on that experience, and some of the other comments, I would not rate the quality control of the packaging 5 stars, but the quality and ease of use of the bike carrier is tops.

After multiple hours researching bike racks, I came across this one....it was the perfect thing for what we needed---3 racks for 3 bikes. Most of the other racks I found were either uber expensive for what it is, or came in pairs...what was I going to do with the left over rack?

So, here comes moving day---and we go to assemble the racks on the bars of the car (which are oval), and they don't fit. GREAT--just what you need to find out on the day you move. OK, I could have tried earlier, but, I didn't. Me bad. The 'u-bolts' that hold the bracket to the bar weren't wide enough for the bar. Ended up having to go to REI at the last minute, make practically a mortgage payment for 3 bike racks that WOULD fit, and continue with the move...and these racks ended up next to the dumpster for someone else to figure out for themselves.

These companies need to give you the pertinent information--like the dimensions of everything--it's not that difficult to do. Had I been informed (and, granted, tried these earlier--but still, that wouldn't change the fact that these still wouldn't fit), I might have made a better decision.

All in all, the product is major cheap---I don't see them lasting a long time...and if you have some major investment in your bikes and not something bought from Target or Walmart, then I wouldn't invest in these.

I bought this scooter for my nephew for his 9th birthday last month and he has hardly been off it since. My sister tells me he rides it all over their neighborhood all the time, and she practically has to pry him off at the end of the night! With turning being so easy (he just has to lean), he's busy creating "tricks" and loves swerving around things. He recently told me it's his favorite gift he's received all year :) I would definitely recommend this for any adventuorous young guy!

Purchased the Nano scooter for my 8 year old, who does not usually ride a scooter and has never tried an electric scooter before. The first time on it, he was frustrated getting used to the carving turns, and a little intimidated by the speed. But by the end of the day, he was having fun on it. By the next day, he was getting the turning action. Although this is not his favorite toy, I think that's a reflection of his personality and not the product itself. It really works great once it's assembled. The reason I am giving it 3 stars is due to the difficulty in accessing the battery compartment. The hex key provided did not fit to access the battery compartment. The directions for accessing the battery compartment were not clear, and I almost broke the compartment trying to get into it. Otherwise it functions well and is true to it's description and age range.

What can I say? It's a great scooter with a killer design. My only problem is you have to lean it to the side in order to turn. My daughetr is 10 years old and this scooter is the perfect speed for her. Most of the kids in the neighborhood look's at her scooter with envy! Most of them have the razor scooter.The footboard is roomy and the scooter runs for hours not 45 minutes. I'm happy I decided on this scooter instead of the razor. Setup is also pretty easy.

This thing rocks! Got it for my 7 year old for his birthday, he took to it very quickly and was doing tricks within 3 hours of riding it. It went over 5 miles on each of the four outings we have had. Even when it begins to start slowing down, you can stop and let the motor cool for a few minutes and it will return to full power for short burst so you can make it home to put it back on charge. My son loves this thing and I could not be happier as a dad!

What can I say, the three wheel innovation for electric scooters is truly great for a younger kid. I saw my daughters friend ride this thing over an uneven spot on the road and I was truly amazed and relieved that the scooter did not tip and the kid was not badly bruised (Right front wheel went over ground about 3 inches higher than the left wheel.)

Kick to start is nice and since the scooter does not need a lower gear I might later reduce the size of the rear cog wheel to give it more top speed. My daughter is already trying to kick while at full speed to get more speed. I guess they kept the top speed at 10mph to meet safety regulations.

It's an excellent product. I say 'get one.'

First, It arrived in excellent condition. The box containing the bike was in a large Amazon box with plenty of packing to protect it.

The quality and graphics detail of the bike itself is really great for the price.

Assembly was exceptionally easy....should take no more than 15 minutes (really!). Follow the pictorial instructions on the side of the bike box. Its really as simple as only 5 steps. You attach; the front wheel (2 nuts); the handlebar (1 bolt); the seat (hand screw and clamp), the training wheels (2 nuts); and the pedals (2 nuts). You will need only an medium size adjustable wrench for assembly...a socket set would be a bonus and make everything but the pedal attachment a bit easier. Last but not least...you need to put some air in the tires and adjust the seat to your child's height. Before riding ...a helmet is a must. I also purchased the Toy Story child's bike helmet and pad set from Amazon which is also great quality and matches the bike perfectly.

Use the included written instructions only as a guide if they are needed as they are generic instructions with too much detail for this particular model (but are a good reference if you need them).

TIP: The only non-intuitive part of assembly is attaching the pedals. They are specifically marked left and right with small removable labels. You absolutely must use the correct pedal on the correct side of the bike and attach them by tightening in the correct direction. The right pedal has right-hand threads. Tighten it in a clockwise direction. The pedal marked "L" has left-hand threads. Tighten it in a counterclockwise direction. I believe most of the pedal problems are due to the fact that people are not installing them correctly.

If for some odd reason the pedals do come loose; head to your local hardware store and buy some LocTite (you would simply remove the pedals (turn in the opposite direction of what I noted above) and apply LocTite to the threads of the pedals and then reattach (remember to tighten in the correct direction noted above).

I'm not sure why the other guy had such a hard time putting it together. Maybe lack of competence on his part, but it wasn't hard to follow the directions and get it assembled. Although, I'd prefer a center pull front brake system, instead of a side one. It's a fine bike, that should last the few years I need it to. Great for the price.

I'm not sure why the reviewer from 12/2010 had such a hard time putting together this bike, but it took myself and my 4 year old son < 10 minutes to put it together. I took one look at the included instructions and tossed them aside. Since it comes in 8 pieces, using basic common sense, everything went together smoothly. You can even reference the picture on the box to figure out what goes where! Honestly though, I had a socket set, and my 4 year old was pointing out what pieces went where. Slap on the training wheels on the rear, hand tighten; put the front wheel on, hand tighten the nuts, stick the handle bars in their hole, hand tighten that bolt, and slide the seat into the only remaining hole, don't bother tightening it down as you'll have to adjust to your child's height. Next, tighten everything down and you're almost done! The only really tricky part to be aware of (as another reviewer pointed out) is that the pedals are specifically made for the left and right side. I only noticed the "L" sticker on the Left pedal (this could have been because my son decided to peel off the "R" sticker, but I'll never really know). Using deductive reasoning, I figured out that the only remaining pedal would go on the Right side. You'll need to be aware of the thread pattern for each pedal (Right threads right, Left threads left). My 4 year old had the Right side pedal about half way threaded before I could get to it. Not that hard! After it was all said and done, and the seat adjusted to his height, he was off to the races. The bike seems very well built, the graphics look awesome, and the twinkle in his eye when he looked at his new Buzz Lightyear bike made my day. Overall it's a great quality product that should last a long time. The price was right, and the shipping was fast.

Review of SRAM Shifter X-9 Trigger

I bought these in hopes of improving shifting accuracy, and reducing lever effort as compared to the X-7's that came stock on my bike. I do believe that they require slightly less effort to shift, say about 10-15%, but that might also be my wishful thinking. As to the shifting accuracy, I would say less of an improvement, but still a slight improvement. Was it worth the ~$100 shelled out, and the time it took to install and dial them in (about 1 hour for both). I am undecided on that. As and upgrade to the X-7 it is very slight, and probably not worth it, but they are a good shifter, and if I was doing a build I would chose the 9's over the 7's, as the price difference is minimal.

Amazon's fault, not the product itself. I don't have any complaint about the actual product, other than the fact that it is not the same color as pictured. They don't say anything about color, and then you order it and it shows up silver.

Bicycle Built For Whom?

I'm not sure who created this magnificent entanglement of wheels but it's obvious that the artist is emphasizing the importance of continuous motion. As to why the colors selected are black and blue, is also a mystery. We can only imagine what lies behind the designers mind when at work.

Work. In order to stay healthy it takes a great deal of work (effort), and it starts with our minds and how we discipline it.

Like many people out there, I'm not crazy about exercise. My reasons are simple. I'm very impatient and expect immediate results. I use to walk everyday for three straight months and instead of losing weight I remained the same. I was told that it was muscle mass by the friend that I walked the downtown canal with but I was unsatisfied with that explanation.

Unsatisfied why? Because I don't like walking it seems boring. So if I'm going to do something that doesn't interest me in the least, and for three months, then I expect it to yield positive results. Like put a smile on my face.

You walk, talk blah blah blah. Nothing exciting about all that. I'm a hyper person and have always been that way so exercise for me should be up beat and fun. No, I'm not talking about dancing or Zumba. I love bike riding. For me, that is truly a body in motion for the wheels can take me anywhere that I chose. And, unlike walking where I dread having to make the journey back. Bike riding for me is a guaranteed non dreadful come back, and I look forward to riding for exercise and pleasure again, and again.

I have to share this funny story. My children brought me a bike, though not the one that I requested. And it was not because of money the bike they purchased cost more than the Bus that I wanted. You know what a Bus bike looks like, its AWESOME! What they purchased was a mans mountain bike. Now first off, why would I want a mans bike with that bar across the middle and what mountains was I going to be climbing in Indianapolis? Not trying to sound ungrateful, I said thank you guys but this is not the bike I asked for. They tried to convince me that it was better and gave me all kinds of reasons. The three of them said. Momma, a mountain bike will grip rough surfaces better and it has 20 gears which will assist you when going uphill. It's faster, blah, blah, blah. But not once did I hear in their description the reason I wanted the bike to assist me with.

I have bad knees and wanted to get the up and down motion for my knees when I pedaled. But with this bike my knees never got the proper exercise that they needed. And, I had the worse back ache because because I was in the bent over like a pretzel position and could never sit up straight or I would not be able to reach the handle bars or brakes if I needed to stop quick. I would have been riding free style. NO HANDS! I'm not that talented. I feel the pavement.

So, after about 2 weeks of torture I asked the oldest son to return the bike and get me what I wanted. And he said, I tell you what, I'll take the bike and get you another one. Well you know how that ended. I'm now looking for another bike because the one that I saw at Walmart is gone and he carelessly left the other bike unattended only to be stolen. But when I find it, all three of them is going straight to the store and we are walking out with my baby so that I can ride the path to good health. Yeah!

Okay. Here are some important facts about exercise.

Moderate exercise daily or three times a week is good for building what I've taken for granted muscle mass which is important to supporting the body. Exercise is very crucial when it comes to strengthening the body frame of the elderly. It's been proven with studies that after about 7 weeks of lite Anaerobic exercise, in which you lift weights a short time each day, strengthens your muscles. Stronger muscles not only store more sugar and fatty acids but can burn these fuels more efficiently, helping your muscles resist fatigue.

Jogging, swimming, walking and my favorite Aerobic exercise bicycling, increases blood flow to your muscles and could possibly decrease the likely hood of heart attack. But there is a need to be balanced because too much of anything is not good for the body. So, don't become obsessive with staying healthy as though being a prisoner of motion. Be wise.

And now time for a few cycling facts.

Yet another health benefit of cycling is the good feeling it gives the rider. Research reveals that the exercise involved triggers the release in the brain of chemical Endorphin's, which can enhance mood. Apart from a feel-good factor, cycling certainly offers a look-good factor. How so? “At a moderate speed the pedaling bicyclist will burn off roughly seven calories [30 joules] per minute, or 200 calories [800 joules] in half an hour,” reports The Guardian newspaper. The consequences? Maybe a trimmer waistline and an end to flabby thighs.

Important things to consider.

First and foremost, wearing a helmet is very important. A couple of years ago I witnessed a bicyclist riding down the busy street, and traveling in the proper direction. He moved from the curb side of travel heading straight for the dividing section that separated the traffic moving in opposite directions. When he reached the middle his wheels got trapped inside the groove in the road and instantly locked causing him to be thrown completely over his handle bars and he landed head first. Sad to say the young man died later at the hospital from his head injury. He wasn't wearing a helmet which could possibly have saved his life. I still feel the sadness though I'm sure he wasn't expecting anything like that to happen.

So stay safe. Be cautious and aware of your surroundings when riding. Another important factor is make sure that the bike you ride is a good fit for you. Like I said earlier about the well intended mountain bike my boys brought me, it did more harm than good. A nice hybrid bike which is a cross between a mountain bike and conventional bike will give you comfortable ride. It will give you a more upright position and the pedals are lower so that if like myself you want to exercise those aching knees. Stretch and Bend. Stretch and Bend.

But when it comes to the health of our children, there is so much concern about our children today being obese, so I taken the liberty to include word for word some facts and reasons why.
