Over 2 decades, I've owned a series of uniquely-different mountain bikes. I'm an experienced rider and very savvy in assembling and working on them. I had to post this review because of my severe FRUSTRATION in the poor workmanship of this machine. Just to get the positives out of the way this really is a nice looking bike. However, looks aside, this bike has a number of issues with it.

For starters (defect number 1), it is shipped in a "women's" bicycle box per the printed description on the box in more than one place; indicating it's the ladies version of the high timber when it's in fact the men's version inside the box. The bike appears to have been jammed into the box with a hydraulic press because it takes the "jaws of life" to get it OUT of the possibly smaller-sized "women's" box.

Defect number 2The front brake assembly has a detached cable with a detached spring on the right-side brake arm. While reattaching both the cable and spring (in the exact same way the rear brake assembly is installed) seems like the most logical fix, the front brake ceases to ever work properly. The right side brake shoe remains in "rubbing" contact with the rim even though the adjuster screw is turned in all the way. This is not an adjustment issue, but rather, a compromised spring (perhaps the very reason this front brake wasn't fully assembled like the rear brake!)

Defect number 3The steering head bearings appear to be ceased because it takes some serious muscle just to turn the front forks around (evidently, the forks are turned backwards at the factory in order to fit the bike in the "women's" box!)

Defect number 4There is a great deal of (lateral) side-to-side movement in the rear hub assembly. These appear to be cartridge bearings so there is no adjustment to take out the play in the wheel. They're just SHOT!

Defect number 5The front wheel has a significant amount of wobble; so significant that you can't adjust the brakes enough so that the rim isn't constantly bouncing off of brake shoe when the lopsided area(s) of the wheel make contact!

Defect number 6Scratched / scraped paint. The bike is protected by cardboard and bubble wrap from head to toeand yet, under all that "armor" you'll find a missing (scraped off!) letter in "Schwinn" and or gouges in the paint on the handlebars and front fork.

Defect number 7Apparently, the step in the assembly line where the rear derailleur gets properly adjusted is skipped, and I think I now know why! No amount of adjusting helps this bike shift and run properly without missing gear shifts and the chain occasionally jumping off. First thing I noticed is that the pulley cage does not even line up with the highest cog (it's not even close!). Neither the high limit nor low limit screws appear to set at all (which they should have been set at the factory!), but adjusting those as well as playing with the barrel adjuster has no affect on the bad shifting and clunky running.

OverallTerrible bike. Please don't waste your time like I did!

This bike seems well constructed and is mostly assembled. You only need to attach the handlebars, seat, pedals and front wheel. Unfortunately in my case I was missing the pedals and parts to attach the front wheel. I've contacted customer service to get the missing parts, hopefully I'll be able to use the bike in the next week or two. A quick google search found a number of other people who were missing the pedals and front wheel parts. While I haven't been able to ride my bike yet, I do like the look and feel of it. I can only rate this product a 3 out of 5. Had I received the necessary parts to actually make the bike work I would have rated it a 4 or 5.

This product is exactly as described. A very fine product, easy to install if you have any mechanical ability at all. However if you're going to install this on a cruiser you'll need a longer shifter cable. The one supplied is 5 feet which is too short for most cruisers. Order the longer cable on line when you buy the wheel and you will save money. Local bike shops tend to rip you good on cables.

I rec'd this conversion kit for my single speed Schwinn cruiser within only a few day's of ordering. It was packaged well with no damage and all of the pieces needed, instructions, etc.. were included. Prior to ordering this kit however I had called our local bike shop to ask in case we couldn't install this kit would they be able too and what the cost would be. They informed me yes they could install it and for only $30(labor fee). After having the kit laying around at home for 2 weeks I decided to take it to the bike shop. In about a 1/2 hour they had it installed, balanced and ready to ride. This conversion kit has made riding my single speed cruiser so much more enjoyable and easy! I would highly recommend this kit to anyone looking to upgrade their bike, the price here was the best I found anywhere by far at least $30-50 less including shipping.

I ordered this to turn my fifty-year (plus) old Schwinn tandem into a three speed. Like one of the other guys in the review list I had to put the shifter on the back handlebars but it really works great. It has put new life into a bike that was being relegated to the ceiling hooks. One of my "best buys of the year"

This tube held up well with my 700x35 tire. I was a little worried just because my tire was at the low end of the size range and I always have the psi kind of low on my tires...it seemed like it might be a bad combination, but I never got a flat or anything with this tube. It did seem like I kept needing to top off the air on a quite regular basis, unlike other tubes I've had. That's the only reason I don't rate it five stars.

This Scooter is much better than expected. It moves very well and easily controlled and comfortable to ride. It can be switched to a slow mode for operation inside accessible buildings. I have taken it over 30 miles on a single charge with extra power to spare. It recharges quickly. Easily modifiable as I have replaced the back basket with a removable one, added a lift off front basket and a separate 12 volt battery system for a added sound system (Radio,MP3 player, GPS, and loud horn) for the open road. I have replaced the pneumatic tires with solid filled tires. I am continually stopped and asked about it. Everyone loves my "Silver Bullet".

Handle bars were great. I did have to drill holes into them so the controls on my bike would mount up, but these are "Universal" so a little bit of customization is to be expected. Also, the knurling in the middle were a bit too wide set for my bike, but then again, "Universal".

They worked out great until I got into an accident which bent them.

These are good tires that I have purchased and mounted many times. They do have a tight fit but I have always been able to mount them to my Campagnolo wheels with my hands and the occasional assistance of a tire lever. Have used Vittoria, Continental, Hutchinson, and Vredesteins and I now look specifically for the Vredestein Fortezza Tricomp. Usually can pick them up on sale in early winter. Good rollers, grippy in corners, and no major flatting issues. Sure, the occasional flat here and there but that is something I have experienced with every brand of tire I have ever ridden. I tend to get a couple thousand miles out of these tires if I push it.

These are fantastic racing tires. They can hold up to 145 psi, and have a higher kevlar count than most other tires in this price range (less flats. They have a very hard and fast feel on the road, but not like a hard cased tire. Also, the Vredestein tubes are great, and you can get them with up to an 80mm stem, perfect for dish rims (i have 404's) because you can get rid of those faulty valve adapters.

This is a good training tire. I have ridden Mich Pro 3, Specialized Turbo. The best thing is that at 145 psi, you glide across the road. I increased my cruising speed abut 3mph on the flats. NOT a great tire for steep climbs. The center tread is a bit grippy and makes the wheel spin up hard to maintain, especially at 12%. I have run over tons of sharp rocks etc...unlike the Mich Pro 3, no flats. I have about 1500 miles on this tire and like it. I will probably return to Mich Pro 3 or 4 though for the faster part of the summer.

This is about as good as it gets for a racing tire. I'd consider it a poor mans Corsa Evo. They improve ride quality significantly, are sensational in wet, and also pretty cut resistant for such a refined riding tire. For those that had difficulties installing this tire on their wheel, I'd probably suggest they revisit proper installation technique. Make sure the bead is in the channel before working the second bead on. They need every millimeter to get seated. I've installed this tire on practically every rim made, without tire levers. If you have weak fingers and hands, consider soaking the tires in warm water in the kitchen sink before hhaving a go at it, and you'll be suprised. Its unfortunate that folks gave bad review for such a fine tire because they didn't know how to properly mount them. Great value for money. A racing or training tire. Not for a commuter though.

For years I used this tire. Then decided to try Michelin Pro 3 and some Continentals. I'm back with Vredestein. The TriComps are the most durable of all I've tried. And it's nice to be able to cram 140+ psi into these babies!!!! They roll like a dream. The last set I had on my Trek Madone went well over 3,000 miles before I had to replace a tube. And even then the tire was usable for 1,000+ more miles. Just like the Michelins, be prepared for a tougher-than-usual roadside tube change: they can be difficult to press onto the rims. Carry and extra tire lever--or even 2--and you should be fine. If you've got weak hands, head to a bike shop for the fix.

This chain/lock is ridiculously gigantic in every measure. I can't imagine actually trying to use this for a bicycle.

The pic makes that lock look like a smallish normal lock. It is not. It's huge.

And the chain is so massive, that if you run this thing in and out of the spokes on any decent wheel, you're going to risk damaging the spokes.

I simply cannot overstate how enormous the size is on this chain and lock combo.

A much better plan would be to use the U-bolt style locks with a standard wire cable. Yes they can cut the cable for the front tire, but they won't easily get the whole bike.

You would have to be very very serious about keeping something immobile to use this. Like maybe a 727 jumbo jet.
