For almost a year now, I've been struggling to find REAL fenders that would work on my 2012 Giant Defy 5. The ones made by Giant specifically for the Defy series of bikes only work with 700 X 23C size tires. They rubbed on 700 X 25C tires. And SKS Raceblade Bicycle Fender Set are merely held in place with glorified rubber bands. They didn't last long before starting to fall apart.

Funny now that these work with 700 X 25C tires, as both SKS-Germany & Amazon.com state they will fit ONLY up to 700 X 23C size tires. The ones everyone tells me will work DON'T. And the ones that shouldn't work DO!

There are no written instructions as such. But clear, easy to understand diagrams on the back of the box. It took me about an hour possibly less to install. But then again I'm old with arthritis & no bike stand. Will these work on your particular bike? I can't say for sure...unless you own a 2012 Giant Defy 5. I'll try to post a few photos.

They fit snuggly & no rattles except when going over the biggest pothole, which I missed due to lack of attention. Finally FENDERS!

I don't have the eyelets on my road bike for fenders, so these were the best option for me. I picked these up from my local bike shop in Seattle and they were the first ones they'd sold of this new 2012 model. The first set was weird: it wouldn't fit my tires. Took them back and sure enough they were a different fender size, though they said the same size on the box. Tried a new one and it fit perfect. These fenders mount and remove easily (through quick release snaps) and are lightweight. I haven't tried them in really wet conditions, but they appear to have the coverage that I need.

These are probably the best fenders available on the market for bikes with super low clearance in the fender region (SKS does a pretty decent job with all their stuff) BUT .... don't buy these if you have a wheel set with regular bolts (not quick-release skewers) unless you know someone with a TIG welder or a machine shop.

So yeah, I couldn't use these as-is...had to head over to my brother's "shop" so he could Dremel out a circle then drill out a larger hole to fit onto my axels. I guess if you had a welder that would work, too...but drilling it out was fairly easy.

Decent fenders otherwise (if you absolutely need low clearance fenders...if not, I'd definitely get something way better than these) .... just beware that they might require a little more work to get on than you may think!

Honest reviews on SKS Raceblade Long Bicycle Fender Set

These are extremely easy to install and take off once you figure out which connections to use. I wish the instructions were a bit more detailed, but these are pretty straight forward. Should take no more than 5 minutes to install and figure out what to do. I bought a set of Velo Orange 700c Hammered Alloy Fenders and though they were pretty to look at, they were very loud and I had no luck fitting a 25mm tire to it even though the description of the one I ordered says it'd work. Eventually I changed out all my tires to 23mm and still never got the front to work on the Hammered Alloy Fenders. The thing with these SKS Raceblades are plastic, so they are not noisy when there is a lot of vibration of the roads. One of the connection paths I take is very bumpy and this fender set has been pretty quiet. I opted for the long over the regular for the extra coverage. Watching youtube reviews on both, the Long fender set seemed like it was more durable for long term use and the coverage is much better.

I'd recommend this to a friend if they needed fenders.

These were pretty easy to install and keep the rain off really well. I thought they'd be flimsy and hit the wheel going over bumps but they've been great.

What originally interested me in the A23 was the 23mm-wide rim bed, which is said to improve the tire contact patch when used with a 23mm wide road tire. Since all of my other road bike wheels were the usual 19mm-wide variety, I kept that in my back pocket for later.

Fast-forward several months, I decided to build a travel bike. Since it would be unlikely that I would be swapping wheels with my race bike, and with the rigors of being packed in a travel case, I decided to give the A23 a shot; a 23mm rim is going to be able to withstand a lot more abuse than a 19mm rim.

I laced these up to a set of 32-hole Dura Ace 7700 hubs and the wheels turned out solid! Not the lightest wheel build in the world (~1850g for the set), but that's largely due to the high spoke count -durability was the overriding factor here, rather than saving weight. The wheels handle exceptionally, and have terrific road feel. The wider rim bed does make a difference -the bike corners like it's on rails.

With the right hub / spoke count selection, one could easily build a ~1500g wheel set with the A23 that would easily hold up to the rigors of racing, even for riders approaching 200lbs.

The only downside is that, if the rest of your wheels aren't 23mm wide, you're going to be fiddling with your brakes whenever you swap wheels. But that's not a ding against the A23; it's just an equipment selection issue.

These are good quality, light but strong rims that are made in the US. I built both a front and rear wheel and used the offset version for the rear. I am not rating them 5 stars because the inner spoke hole drillings are not deburred. On the non offset rim a deburring tool or large drill bit can be used. The offset wheel is such that a normal deburring tool won't work. Normal rim strips don't work well, again, particularly for the offset. I used Stan's no tubes rim tape (21mm) and have not had any issues since. I am building another set of wheels and will probably use these rims again. I was very happy except for the minor issue with the spoke drillings.

Being an avid cyclist, I love assembling, tinkering, and modifying all of my bikes. Four years ago, I added a full-monocoque carbon fiber road bike (2006 CFR-LE) to my stable. I bought the Park TW-2 Torque Wrench to correctly tighten all of the carbon fiber components (stem, seatpost, cranks, etc.) to manufacturer specs and to prevent damage from overtightening. The long handle provides plenty of torque even for the carbon crankset fixing bolt.

The scale on the TW-2 ranges from 0-600 in. lbs. (0-70 NM) and is appropriate for almost all bike components. This torque wrench is fairly easy to use (need to correctly use the swiveling handle) and includes clear instructions and a basic Torque Specifications table. More detailed torque specs can be downloaded from components manufacturers and parktool website. I also use the Park Tool TW-1 Torque Wrench (1/4Inch Drive, 0-60 inch Lbs) for smaller bolts that require less tightening torque.

The Park Tool TW-2 torque wrench has a 3/8" square drive. No sockets are included; I purchased a separate 10 piece Metric Hex Bit socket set that fits all of my bikes' hex bolts (available at local hardware, auto parts, or online stores). Make sure to use carbon assembly compound/paste for properly tightening carbon components (*paste not recommended for CF steering column-stem interface and handlebar-stem interface which can cause slippage).

I originall bought the 60 inch version and am happy with it so I bought the 600 inch version. As I said in my review of the 60 incher, I was concerned about the accuracy and mechanics of the click wrenches that many prefer. The downside of the beam wrenches is you have to be looking at the scale. In my opinion the upside is it is easy to check the calibration (set zero) and I like to be able to watch the torque build by looking at the scale rather than wondering when I am going to get there as with a click wrench. Sometimes simple technology is better in my opinion. Not much to go wrong with this one.

Pro's:

+ Does not need to be sent off for calibration

+ Durable

Con's:

The identical unit, under a different brand, is available at Sears for 1/2 the price

Plastic handle feels cheap.

Make sure you calibrate it out of the box mine was about 1 nM off and the needle was pressed against the meter. Seems sloppy.

I have several other Park tools and they work well (usually not the best, but better than average). I expected something a little more tailored for bicycle repair my fault (not sure what I was expecting I guess). It's as basic as torque wrenches get.

Docked 1 star for value, lack of calibration out of the box (just bend it back at the wrench head), and the cheap handle. Still, it works and most importantly with no worries about the calibration being off. The sound of carbon fiber cracking is not pleasant.

Honest reviews on Park Tool TW-2 Torque Wrench (3/8- Inch Drive, 0-600 inch Lbs)

This is a great tool. As others have said, the simplicity of this tool is what is appealing. The only drawback is having to be able to see the needle and numbers while torquing. I have always had great luck with Park Tool products and feel good to see the Made in USA stamp.

This is a quality wrench (by feel) however on the one that I received the N/m and the inch/lb scales do not line up at 0. So this makes it impossible to properly calibrate the wrench for both scales. It isn't bad enough to send it back but it is annoying and shows poor quality control.

This, of course, makes me wonder how accurate the wrench is overall.

I installed these spokes because my previous ones were breaking for no apparent reason. I later discovered that the spokes that came stock on my bike were faulty for the years that my bike was manufactured. These spokes feel a lot more sturdy, yet without being too lightweight. I will re-post in a year or so to let you know how they have held up. I currently weigh 320lbs, so these spokes will get quite a beating :). I have already put 20-25 miles on them without a hitch, but the other ones didn't start breaking until they had over 1000 miles on them, so again, I will re-post either in a year, or when the first spoke breaks (whichever comes sooner)

I bought this scooter for my nephew for his 9th birthday last month and he has hardly been off it since. My sister tells me he rides it all over their neighborhood all the time, and she practically has to pry him off at the end of the night! With turning being so easy (he just has to lean), he's busy creating "tricks" and loves swerving around things. He recently told me it's his favorite gift he's received all year :) I would definitely recommend this for any adventuorous young guy!

Purchased the Nano scooter for my 8 year old, who does not usually ride a scooter and has never tried an electric scooter before. The first time on it, he was frustrated getting used to the carving turns, and a little intimidated by the speed. But by the end of the day, he was having fun on it. By the next day, he was getting the turning action. Although this is not his favorite toy, I think that's a reflection of his personality and not the product itself. It really works great once it's assembled. The reason I am giving it 3 stars is due to the difficulty in accessing the battery compartment. The hex key provided did not fit to access the battery compartment. The directions for accessing the battery compartment were not clear, and I almost broke the compartment trying to get into it. Otherwise it functions well and is true to it's description and age range.

What can I say? It's a great scooter with a killer design. My only problem is you have to lean it to the side in order to turn. My daughetr is 10 years old and this scooter is the perfect speed for her. Most of the kids in the neighborhood look's at her scooter with envy! Most of them have the razor scooter. The footboard is roomy and the scooter runs for hours not 45 minutes. I'm happy I decided on this scooter instead of the razor. Setup is also pretty easy.

This thing rocks! Got it for my 7 year old for his birthday, he took to it very quickly and was doing tricks within 3 hours of riding it. It went over 5 miles on each of the four outings we have had. Even when it begins to start slowing down, you can stop and let the motor cool for a few minutes and it will return to full power for short burst so you can make it home to put it back on charge. My son loves this thing and I could not be happier as a dad!

What can I say, the three wheel innovation for electric scooters is truly great for a younger kid. I saw my daughters friend ride this thing over an uneven spot on the road and I was truly amazed and relieved that the scooter did not tip and the kid was not badly bruised (Right front wheel went over ground about 3 inches higher than the left wheel.)

Kick to start is nice and since the scooter does not need a lower gear I might later reduce the size of the rear cog wheel to give it more top speed. My daughter is already trying to kick while at full speed to get more speed. I guess they kept the top speed at 10mph to meet safety regulations.

It's an excellent product. I say 'get one.'

My husband is 6'4 and this bike fits him comfortably. Comes with a lot of upgrades so that saved us a lot of cash there. The only think that is a must to replace is the seat, it is hard and very uncomfortable.

I purchased this bike for my 12 y/o son about a month ago. It arrived early and assembly was not difficult although you will need a good set of metric allen wrenches for the headset and seat post. The bike is made from quality materials and all components are high quality. My son is very tall for his age so I was looking for a well built bike with 24 inch wheels. I did shop around prior to purchasing through Amazon but they had by far the best price! All in all, we love this bike and would not hesitate to highly recomend it.

I am really happy that I chose to go with this bike. The only thing that I replaced on it was the seat post/seat as it was a bit short and uncomfortable on my hind quarters for my taste. I know that this bike is going to last me for a long time and I will recommend it to anyone that is in need of an awesome BMX bike.
