For almost a year now, I've been struggling to find REAL fenders that would work on my 2012 Giant Defy 5. The ones made by Giant specifically for the Defy series of bikes only work with 700 X 23C size tires. They rubbed on 700 X 25C tires. And SKS Raceblade Bicycle Fender Set are merely held in place with glorified rubber bands. They didn't last long before starting to fall apart.

Funny now that these work with 700 X 25C tires, as both SKS-Germany & Amazon.com state they will fit ONLY up to 700 X 23C size tires. The ones everyone tells me will work DON'T. And the ones that shouldn't work DO!

There are no written instructions as such. But clear, easy to understand diagrams on the back of the box. It took me about an hour possibly less to install. But then again I'm old with arthritis & no bike stand. Will these work on your particular bike? I can't say for sure...unless you own a 2012 Giant Defy 5. I'll try to post a few photos.

They fit snuggly & no rattles except when going over the biggest pothole, which I missed due to lack of attention. Finally FENDERS!

I don't have the eyelets on my road bike for fenders, so these were the best option for me. I picked these up from my local bike shop in Seattle and they were the first ones they'd sold of this new 2012 model. The first set was weird: it wouldn't fit my tires. Took them back and sure enough they were a different fender size, though they said the same size on the box. Tried a new one and it fit perfect. These fenders mount and remove easily (through quick release snaps) and are lightweight. I haven't tried them in really wet conditions, but they appear to have the coverage that I need.

These are probably the best fenders available on the market for bikes with super low clearance in the fender region (SKS does a pretty decent job with all their stuff) BUT .... don't buy these if you have a wheel set with regular bolts (not quick-release skewers) unless you know someone with a TIG welder or a machine shop.

So yeah, I couldn't use these as-is...had to head over to my brother's "shop" so he could Dremel out a circle then drill out a larger hole to fit onto my axels. I guess if you had a welder that would work, too...but drilling it out was fairly easy.

Decent fenders otherwise (if you absolutely need low clearance fenders...if not, I'd definitely get something way better than these) .... just beware that they might require a little more work to get on than you may think!

These are extremely easy to install and take off once you figure out which connections to use. I wish the instructions were a bit more detailed, but these are pretty straight forward. Should take no more than 5 minutes to install and figure out what to do. I bought a set of Velo Orange 700c Hammered Alloy Fenders and though they were pretty to look at, they were very loud and I had no luck fitting a 25mm tire to it even though the description of the one I ordered says it'd work. Eventually I changed out all my tires to 23mm and still never got the front to work on the Hammered Alloy Fenders. The thing with these SKS Raceblades are plastic, so they are not noisy when there is a lot of vibration of the roads. One of the connection paths I take is very bumpy and this fender set has been pretty quiet. I opted for the long over the regular for the extra coverage. Watching youtube reviews on both, the Long fender set seemed like it was more durable for long term use and the coverage is much better.

I'd recommend this to a friend if they needed fenders.

These were pretty easy to install and keep the rain off really well. I thought they'd be flimsy and hit the wheel going over bumps but they've been great.

The product is well made. However it should be noted that the product has some shortcomings (if they are of any importance to you):

1. The steering is not foldable. In other words, it does not fold down in a nice compact way like the Razor scooters do.

2. The steering is not extendable. It is a one size device.

I did not know these prior to purchase since none of the other reviewers mentioned it. It is not too much of a problem, but it was certainly a bit disappointing for me given that this is more than twice the price of other scooters and yet lacks these basic features.

As other reviewers have mentioned, depending on your child, it could take some time to master. The downside to the "lean to one side to steer in that direction" is also that the turning radius is very large. Unlike other scooters, this makes sharp turns difficult to do.

We have now owned this for quite a while. Both my kids use it. The scooter has held up very well and still looks new despite almost daily use by two very active kids. As a result I have bumped it up to 4 stars.

This is the best scooter...our girls both got one for Christmas and as its 18 degrees out, they ride them inside( around and around the kitchen island...LOL...not a big space, but still fun for them until they could be outside), and it is quiet and SO good for our oldest's coordination...the younger (4) could ride ANYTHING skillfully within seconds, but our 5 year old is a bit less physically quick to find her balance etc. BUT... our oldest was riding it like a pro within minutes, and they both love love love riding them. These scooters are small and light but sturdy and so well made (SO awesome). They have a brake in the back that is super easy to use (also a cool feature) and the scooter itself CAN tip over, but the way its built makes it so it isn't tippy and so a child getting their balance will be ok. It doesn't tip over unless a kid literally falls somehow, and it takes little to no balance to ride them once the initial few moments of getting on the thing is over. Otherwise, it balances itself great. I would buy these again and again, and when they get older, we will get the larger size. Thank goodness my sister told me that these were what my nephews had and they were light years better than the other scooters they had owned and their friends had. Her boys are REALLY active and rode those things hard, but they LOVED them, and SHE loved them, and she said every friend that saw them asked her for the info because although most of them had scooters, they weren't as safe while still having all the fun of a scooter. If you want a scooter, THIS is the scooter for your younger kid...OR get the larger size for your bigger kid. I have nothing but RAVES for this scooter. Not one single "love this, BUTTTTT...." They have been 100% fantastic.

The first time you take this out and slot the bar in (1 simple step assembly), it is hard not to be impressed by how cool this scooter is. The steering-by-leaning is a nifty technical set-up and has been very quickly mastered by my three year old. She had no experience with this sort of thing, but was flying around within minutes.

I got two of these scooters as Christmas presents for my twins. They have been asking for a scooter since the summer and since they just turned three, I thought it was a good age to get them something like that. I went to the usual stores first to look at three-wheeled-scooters and I was disappointed at the poor quality and/or the poor maneuverability. I was sure that there must exist a better option. I searched the web and VOILA!I found these. First off, the colors are awesome. Second, they look just like 'big boys&girls' scooters, which counts for a lot when you are three. Third, after reading scooter blogs, I was convinced that these are well worth the money in terms of quality of workmanship and maneuverability. I am so pleased with my choice my kids look like Pros on these wonderful little machines. We took them to the park the day after Christmas, and everyone (kid & adult) was staring at my twins who were effortlessly scooting around. They got the concept of how to operate the scooters within minutes, and after an hour there was no stopping them (or getting them off the scooters!!!). Learning how to use the break took a couple of days, but they got it down. The scooters were very easy to put together, and all the parts look to be well made. I'm sure we'll enjoy these for years to come.

I searched the internet for any reviews of this product I could find. The reviews I found were far and few between with virtually no negative or slightly negative reveiws. I purchased this bike for the comfort of riding. I really like the style and comfort of the bike and found it easy to pedal and navigate. I requested to return the item after riding it for the second time(I rode the bike for a toal of 15 minutes both times combined). I found the speed of the bike entirely too slow (maybe 5 mph top speed). The bike would not climb the two foot hill from the street up my driveway without the front tire slipping on the concrete (center of gravity is well to back of the bike). In my opinion the manufacturer should consider adding a gear to the front wheel similar to the 3 speed hub gears now found on 2 wheel cruisers. I would not recommend buying this bike if you want if for adult use, exercise or short trips.

I bought this bike for my son who has ADD since he would have difficulty paying attention and riding at the same time. It is working out very well and I would recommend it. He loves to ride it and now he can go riding with the whole family. Keep in mind that it does not have gears so it will not go as fast as a standard bike which I find to be a plus. Remember to tighten all screws, even on parts that are pre-assembled, after riding as this is not entirely welded but rather bolted together.

As a professional dog walker, I was looking for a better way to exercise dogs. I purchased a Mobo Shift two years ago and used it to exercise my dog and a few of my customers dogs. One of my customers was requesting a Mobo run for her dog at least once a week so after a year, I finally sold her my old one and now I am on my second Mobo Shift. It's not for long distance biking or steep hills but it is just perfect for neighbor riding and shorter distances on asphalt or concrete roads. I usually do 5 or 6 miles a day with my dog (weather permitting) and he is never happier than when he is running along side.....unless he's eating that is.

The Mobo comes with a pictured chart for assembly. I put both of mine together, It only takes about 1/2 hour and I double check to make sure everything is tight before we go 'moboing'. I got a Telescopic Safety Flag because the flag that comes with it is not bright enough for my satisfaction. I also use two Bike Peddler Take A Look Cycling Eyeglass Mirrors, one on each side of my sunglasses to ensure that I know exactly what is behind me at all times. I have attached a Delta Airzound Bike Horn just in case some one backs out of their driveway, etc. I always hang a canteen of water over the back with a Popware for Pets Travel Cup for Garrett too and, of course, I have a speaker and mp3 player for my favorite tunes....all that is left is to enjoy.

Buy Topeak Front Bicycle Basket

There are two considerations for front-mounting baskets like this: The quality of the basket itself and the quality of the mechanism which attaches the basket to the bike. As far as the former, the Topeak basket is great. It offers a fine mesh which is strong and will not snag the things you put in the basket.

However, the attachment is not very good. The attachment works in two ways. First it grips the handlebar. This holds the basket in place, but it does not keep it from tilting down when you put something somewhat heavy in it. To keep it from tilting down, the basket comes with a little wire that wraps around the handlebar stem. The problem is that it is JUST a little wire. It is not strong enough to secure the basket. If you're like me, you will sometimes carry books in your basket. If the bike is just stationary, the basket will hold the books. However, if you are riding, and you go over any kind of bump, the little wire won't be able to handle the jolt. The wire will break and the basket will tilt forward (which makes it unusable).

Even though the wire broke, I am still using this basket. I found a way to rig it with some nylon rope. It wasn't too hard, but it was a pain.

In short, I would not recommend this basket unless you will only carrying virtually weightless stuff or unless you want to spend some time figuring out a better way to attach the basket.

I know someone who has the "Cycle Force Quick Release" basket. It has a much stronger mechanism for attaching the basket. The basket is pretty nice, too (though not quite as nice as the Topeak one). Overall, it is probably a better bet.

I don't know what they were thinking. The bracket attaches to the handle bars, but there is no third point of attachment, so it forms a pivot or hinge. Even if you screw it down tight it will still sag until it hits your front wheel or fender. I am going to put something between the stem and the back of the basket to keep this from happening, but you would think they could have figured this out themselves.

The basket itself is nice and the quick release is well engineered. But given the choice, I would not have bought it after watching it slowing sag away...

Best Deals for Topeak Front Bicycle Basket

After extensive research in the bicycle basket area, I chose this model and I'm very happy I did! This basket is a great value for the price. I had it installed at my local bicycle shop, because my computer had to be moved and I didn't want to fiddle with it, but it seemed to be an easy enough task. The best feature is that the basket comes off if needed. It's extremely easy to just slide this off and on. There's even a lift up handle so you can carry the basket around, which I do at garage sales and markets! When I originally opened the box, I thought the basket was huge, but once it was installed and used, I've decided that it's just right! This basket has a smaller mesh design, so you don't have to worry about smaller things falling through it. I think it's also a nicer shape, more rounded, than the standard square models. This model is both stylish and functional. I'd definitely recommend this!

i was totally excited for the large size & small mesh of the basket, but the thing was off of my bike within a week. it lost a screw, which made the basket slide down & hit my tire.

the assembly instructions were nonsensical (pictures only) & the unit as a whole is not sturdy enough to handle it's own size.

I have owned this basket for two years. It is very stylish and has a powered epoxy finish to prevent corrosion. It attaches to the handlebars but I needed to provide additional support underneath to carry groceries without the basket wobbling precariously. Even with this additional support, the bracket containing the handlebar grips eventually separated from the basket. The metal mesh literally ripped apart from the mounting bracket. I do not use this basket for decoration or carrying light loads as I use my bike for much of my shopping. Anyone wanting a front basket for such utilitarian use should consider a basket that has, besides handlebar grips, strut supports attaching to the front wheel axle, such as some of the Wald models. Such baskets do not lift off, a feature not required in any case if you use a shopping bag, but they are much less likely to break when carrying a couple quarts of milk and a five pound bag of flour over the bumps and ruts.

It does its job so reliably that I would stake my life on it's ability to keep the axle from turning against the planetary gear system it is designed to stabilize. The color choice was genius. Green screams left-vertical dropout! I splurged and purchased the matching right vertical dropout washer in blue and I am not sorry. There are a few times in life when one knows for absolutely sure, beyond any doubt, that a decision was crystal-clear, spot-on, the best and most appropriate and fulfilling choice. Schwalbe Blizzard HS 363 Racing Bicycle Tire Review

I purchased my second set of Schwalbe Blizzard HS tires because the first set lasted me several thousand miles. Unfortunately, after installing my second set my back tire wore out after only about 200 miles. My tire was inflated to around 100 psi and the bead popped out of the Mavic rim while I was half way through a century ride. I stopped quickly and had to deflate my tire to get the bead back inside the rim. I completed the ride, but the following Tuesday I was just starting another ride and the bead popped out again, causing my tube to blow. I took the tire off and the bead looked like it had been riden for months. BTW, I only weigh 160 lbs.
