Cheap Tour De France Stage One Elite Bike

I purchased this bike after having to return a Tour de France Stage One Pro that arrived damaged. The component group and features of this model are far superior to the Pro but unfortunately the packaging wasn't and the bike arrived damaged.

As I put in my review of the Stage One Pro, the manufacturer must do something with their packaging! The bike comes wrapped in bubble wrap and cardboard with plastic sleeves affixed to the hubs that are supposed to hold the bike away from the sides of the box. When I opened up the box I found that every one of the plastic sleeves failed and the bike was resting on the rear derailleur. I pulled everything out and found a deep gouge in the seat tube that went down to the metal and the RD hanger was bent at a 45 degree angle. Had this bike been put together and someone tried to shift to the lowest gear the RD would have been flung into the spokes either destroying the wheel, the RD, the frame, or any combo of the three. I checked on the Cycle Force Group support site for a replacement derailleur hanger but they don't list any of the Tour de France hangers, which would be a serious problem down the road if there were no replacements available. There was also a manufacturing problem with the saddle/seat post combination as the saddle would not rest properly in the post and stayed at an angle.

This being my second bike from Cycle Force Group received damaged I returned it and have decided not to purchase a bike from their company. The bike itself is not to blame really and if you get one that isn't damaged it is a great setup for a beginning rider. The assembly is not difficult (based upon similarity with the Stage One Pro) but the manual requires patience as they cram every model they make into one booklet. I can't comment on the ride quality with this bike as I never finished the assembly.

So I'm new to bikes and thought I would start out with something that would be on the inexpensive side but still got the job done. I looked around at different bikes and finally came upon the suggestion of getting this one since it was my first bike. The price I got it for here on Amazon was the biggest reason to buy it so I gave it a shot. The first bike that was sent to me must have been sent to someone else before because there were things in the package that were already open (ie. parts to the bike). There ended up being a very small almost unnoticeable broken piece of the frame that was essential to keeping the brake line on and working. I sent it back and get a new bike within 3 days and everything was perfect on the new one. The second bike had never been touched and it has worked out great for me. I'm going to be using it for a few sprint triathlons and commuting for the next while so we'll see how she holds up.

This bike turned out to a bit better than expected. It came with a lot of great extras: lites, chain guard, fenders, rack, etc. Looks really cool, seems very well built and thought-out. A great value at $280. Major problems were a lack of clear instructions for assembly. Manual covered half doz. models, none of them even close to this bike! I had to have a pro button it all up (an extra $50).

Once all was together and safe, it turns out to be just a little too small for me. I am a bit over 6 feet tall. After trying all the many possible adjustments, I was unable create a safe and comfortable ride.

Too bad, I really wanted it to work! Recent knee problems (age 70)have forced me to need a "step-through" bike like this.

I would think twice before buying this bike again. I was attracted to the bike from the description because I am an older rider and like the idea of the ease of getting on and off the bike. When I called to inquire if the bike was fully assembled, I was told it was 85% assembled and that the few remaining pieces would be easily put on. The manual was a generic manual and really gave no helpful information specific for this bike. Also, you need to have a variety of metric tools including a 14 mm deep socket, 10 mm short socket, 6 mm Allen wrench, 5 mm Allen wrench, crescent wrench, 5/32 Allen wrench and 8, 10, and 15 mm open/box wrench (only the 5 and 6 mm Allen wrenches came with the bike). With great difficulty my husband and I put the bike together over a 3-4 hour period. Once finished I went for a ride only to find that the chain and gear shift mechanism weren't assembled properly at the factory, so I couldn't even ride it. $80 later, after taking the bike to our local bike store for a complete overhaul, I was able to go for my first ride. The seat that comes with this bike is not for those of us with larger girths. I felt like I was going through childbirth again, so I ordered another seat more befitting my derriere. The base price of the bike is good, however, after adding an additional $110 for the seat and overhaul, I no longer think this bike is such a good deal. I wish I had bought a bike from my local bike store where I could have gotten more personalized service and a guarantee on the bike parts.

A well made bike with a lot of style but with poor directions for putting together. The booklet that came with the bike was for other bikes. No mention of the lighting system at all. I still can't figure how to install the wiring. The seven speeds are all I need in flat Florida. I will visit a bike shop for some help. Still like the bike.

My boyfriend bought me this bike for Christmas. I did a lot of research before I settled on this one. It met all of my criteria:

1. Step through frame

2. Handle bars for upright sitting

3. Hand brakes

4. Fenders

5. Self generating light system

6. Although this did not get glowing reviews, most complaints were about assembly. So I took it to the local bike shop and had it professionally assembled. Because my boyfriend has Amazon Prime, I was still saving money versus retail.

7. Shocks on the front fork

8. A guard on the gears to keep my pants from being damaged.

It has satisfied all of the criteria and then some. I like that the tires have reflective stripes on them. They seem very resilient. I enjoy riding the bike and have received compliments.

Why not a perfect score?

1. It is MUCH heavier than I expected it to be.

2. It rides smoothly; BUT it's very slow. It is really made for actual cruising. I use it to get to work and sometimes this makes it less than ideal if I'm in a hurry.

3. The fenders are poorly made and easily damaged.

4.The brakes are not goodthis can probably be remedied with a trip to the bike shop.

7. The kickstand is very unreliable. I think my brakes were damaged through repeated falls.

It will do for now. But it is not my final destination in the search for a good commuting bike.

This is a great bike. I am a female 5"8" and wanted a bike that I can ride in an upright position. Very sturdy steel construction but feel that that the mudguards could have been metal and not plastic. I would have given 5 stars but for the packaging nightmare as noted by other buyers. Loose parts were everywhere inside the box and some were broken. I had a mechanic assemble the bike and he managed to fix it so I would not have the hassle of returning it. For this pleasure I was charged an extra $40. Not happy about that, however the bike itself is worth it.

My 15 month old daughter loves this trike! She cried when our walk was over because she didn't want to get off of it. I have no problem with the steeringit can swerve slightly when going straight, but not enough to matter, and it turns well. It took her dad only a half hour or so to put together. I like the adjustable height of the parent push handle, since I am short but her dad is tall. The only thing I don't like is the shoulder harnessI can't adjust it quite right, so the straps are on the outer edge of my daughter's shoulders and sometimes one slips down. But she still stays on fine, and the separate waist buckle works well.

Before buying I looked at this push trike and the different Smart Trike models. After seeing them in person, I narrowed it down to this or the Smart Trike Zoo Gala (a deluxe model)the lower-end Smart Trikes are more flimsy plastic and seemed cheaply made; these were both sturdy. I compared features and ultimately found this Little Tikes trike to have better and safer features for the first stages. The websites don't mention them, so here is what I found.

-The Smart Trike front wheel covering is short and your child could more easily stick her foot in the spinning wheel. The Little Tikes front wheel cover extends further/decreases this possibility.

-The Smart Trike foot rest (I believe) does not fold up to get out of the way when they move to stage 3. The Little Tikes does.

-If you are on the first two stages (both with the parent pushing), but your child can reach the pedals and they try to pedal, the Smart Trike front wheel will still move. The Little Tikes trike allows you to disengage the pedals for the first two stageswhen you push the trike the pedals and front wheel still move, but if your child pedals, the front wheel does not.

Also, there are 3 seat positions. For the first stage (with the bar around the waist), you must put the seat in the closest one to the pedals. My daughter is 31" and the footrest is a little behind her feet, and she sometimes lets them dangle in front of it. But she doesn't reach the pedals yet. If you would move the seat further back, though, you'd have to take off the waist bar.

Both my little girls (ages 2 & 10 months) love this trike. It is easy to push and steer. We get lots of fun comments when we are out walking with it. I know we will be able to use this for many years. My 2 year old can NOT reach the pedals yet, but she is on the small side for her age, only 34in and 24lbs.

We've had this about a month and the frame is already scratched up a bit. The finish on the metal parts is a bit thin. Other than that we are very happy with the purchase.

For the most part it is great..Have 2 issues with it. 1st the "canopy" can be adjusted in any direction which would make you think it would be great...uh not so much. With a very light breeze the canopy goes eveywhere..pretty much a nightmare. 2nd issue is the parent handle. It is very difficult to manuever without feeling like you are going to break the bar.Minus these two issues it is really cool. I get comments everytime I take my daughter out on it. She loves this trike.My daughter just turned one and it is perfect for her at stage1.

I bought this for my grand daughters 1st birthday. It's cute but I am not real happy with the quality of the trike. It is kind of ricketty. Plastic tires and the steering isn't great. She loves riding on it but I wish I'd spend my money on a trike that was sturdier. I bought my Grandson a Radio Flyer for his Birthday and was VERY happy with it. The sun shade is worthless, it was a bit windy when we took her for a walk and it just flew up in our face. Live and learn.

We purchased this trike for our daughter's 2nd birthday. We REALLY liked the idea of this product (color, shade, "stages", adult push handle), but were very disappointed when we started assembling the product. The main problem with the trike we received was the steering mechanism was binding up and the lock on the front was non-functional. This resulted in not being able to steer to the left with either the handle bars or the parent handle. We are really disappointed because our daughter really wanted a purple bike, but we ended up going to target at the last minute and picking up a radio flyer that was $25 cheaper and 1000X better engineered. I find that I usually disagree with the negative reviews on Amazon, but this time the negative reviews were spot on. It makes me wonder if we (and the others) got lemons, but either way I'm returning the product.

I chose an adult trike, as I have a balance problem, and can no longer ride a bike. Assembly took some time, but it arrived more assembled than most. It feels sturdy and comfortable when I ride. The hand brake and coaster brake are easy to use. It is hilly, where I live and I have no trouble slowing down or stopping, on downward slopes. (If you do live in a hilly place, having 3 speeds is a very good idea.)

I find it is easy on my back and knees and feels stable, when I ride. However, if you are used to riding a 2-wheeler, you should be aware that a trike feels surprisingly different. You may need some practice before it feels natural to ride it. (On good advice, I found an open area and rode figure-8's until I got the knack of steering it.)

It has given me back the pleasure of pedaling, which I missed very much.

have been chrome plated. also recieved front wheel with caliper

brakes should be drum brake as noted on product description.

Called factory and I was able to get a front wheel with drum brake.

Missing parts, damaged threads, mismatched parts. If you like a challenge and a chance to be creative this is for you. The bike came 70% unassembled in a box, the box was trashed, there was no protective packing inside, luckily not too much damage to the bike. I had to use my own screws and bailing wire to assemble, took about 6 hours. The bike itself is OK, I don't think 2nd gear is working, just goes straight from 1st to 3rd. I guess I will find out how it holds up. Amazon should be ashamed sending me a bike that was obviously returned before.

First let me tell you Amazon was fabulous to work with during this nightmare. We bought US made product to support our country and had hoped for a better situation. Our first trike order arrived damaged, according the the manufacture Workmans! However, the product showed no sign of damage but the foldable pins didn't line up. UPS picked the product up and we received the second trike in less then 5 days. The process went very smoothly. Although, the previous follable pin issue was now not a problem this time; there were 3 other major problems. First, the intertube had 2 punctures requiring a new inter tube, secondly, you could peddle but the bike didn't move and it required a trip to the bike store for diagnosis. The factory didn't tighten a screw, thirdly a problem with the wheel feeling like it had a flat spot requiring another trip to the bike store and it had something to do with the tire rim which they fixed. Finally, after a few trips and other adjustments the bike was finally ready to ride. Obviously, this is a quality control issue! Amazon gave us a nice credit for the hassle and the purchase of the intertube but had one more thing happened we would have shipped it back for good! I am sad to say we were not happy with Workman's product and hope that they will do a better job with their quality control!

We looked at many Adult Tricycles. Most where big and not easy to store. They were heavy and took up alot of garage room. We also wanted something that we could take with us when we travel. We decided on the Worksman Port-O-Trike 3spd. Upon arrival the Trike was simple to put together. Everything needed was in the box. The parts lined up for securing. The instructions are easy to follow and there is always the youtube video that helps those that need it.

Remember to check wheel tightness before riding. It will take a little ride time to get used to the balance of a tricycle over a standard bike. The 3 speeds make it easy to pedal. The seat and handlebars will set up for just about anyone to ride. The rear basket is set a little close and your feet will hit on it when you pedal. I reset the basket farther back, (had to drill two new holes), to fix this problem. We have been asked by several people where we got the trike. The size is what draws people to it. No more fighting the big 26 inch heavy weights. The bike is great if you need to store it. It is also great if you are older and would have a problem dealing with a larger trike. It is very easy to get on and off. it is a big plus being lower to the ground than a full size bike. If you are looking for a trike to ride around the neighborhood or take to the local market this is it. If I still had my boat

Discount Truvativ Howitzer XR Bottom Bracket

This bottom bracket is built like a humvee, overkill for most riders, but if your like me, you gotta have one. Two huge bearings outside the bottom bracket housing, with oversized bolts holding everything together.

These only work with cranksets built specifically for this bottom bracket.

Just be sure to buy the correct chainline. Measure from the center of your frame to the center of your front crainring. For doubles average the two chainrings, for triples measure to the center chainring. The 50mm bb (the other one, not this one) is the most common.
