Cheap Currie Technologies eZip/iZip Tri-Ride and TriCruiser Battery Pack

Currie Technologies eZip/iZip Tri-Ride and TriCruiser Battery Pack, 36-volt/12-Amp

The battery pack of the iZip Tricruiser (3 SLA 12 volt 12ah) is powerful enough to go good distance per charge. But when doing extra trips during the day, or extra long trips, it's good to carry a second one.

The SLA batteries in general does wear down pretty quickly (and that's why only 6 months warranty from the OEM). So the unfortunately side of this is may have to replace the pack as soon as every 9 to 12 months. The Tricruiser I ordered for my father in law lasted 10 months before battery pack died (verified by a local authorized dealer). I an in the midst of try to replace the SLA batteries myself (have to unsolder the leads), but in the meantime getting a new battery pack is prude either as a new primary battery, or a spare when I get the first pack's battery replaced.

Well first off I would like to note that the 2 previous poor reviews were from people who don't own and did not buy this bike. One does not like Schwinn (does not own bike) and the other was complaining about the lack of info in the ad, and then stated he wouldn't buy it anyway (does not own bike). Well, I don't give either review any weight.

I could find little info on this bike via the web. I was worried about the size as I need a taller bike being 6'1.5" with a 34" inseam. I don't have a money tree so I couldn't spend a lot on a bike. I was tempted to buy the GMC Denali. I went to WalMart and looked at one and found that it looked good and was a very reasonable price. I compared it to the Schwinn Varsity and found the the Schwinn looked to be a better quality but was a bit small for me. When I saw the Phocus I couldn't find a size anywhere. So I downloaded a photo of the Varsity and superimposed the photo of the Varsity over the one of the Phocus. Not perfect, but it showed the Phocus was taller by a couple of inches, in theory this would make it just right.

The bike comes with many upgraded parts as compared to the low end Schwinn's and most of the department store bikes so I took a chance and ordered it. Free shipping got it to my residence is 5 days (ordered on a Sunday arrived on Thursday). Double boxed, the Schwinn box inside a second heavier box. After unpacking took about 15 minutes to assemble and another 30 minutes or so to adjust and check over. Only needed an allen wrench, a phillips screw driver and a small adjustable wrench, not hard but YMMV.

Very nice looking bike, looks and feels much better than the lower end bikes. I was able to find the original price was $420.00, so it wasn't cheap, although I assume it's a cheap bike to those who buy bikes costing a thousand or more.

The size is spot on for me (34" inseam, with shoes 34.5, if your inseam is less than 32" be careful.

measurements;

seat tube, from the base(center of crank)to the top of seat post: 23.5", 59.7cm

seat tube, from the base(center of crank)to the center of top top tube: 21.5", 54.6cm

I will note that the upward slop of the top tube makes the seat post measurement a bit odd as the top bar is lower at the back than the front, similar to a mountain bike but not as drastic. If the top tube was straight it would measure at 23", 58.4cm (center to center)

top tube from center to center: 21.5", 54.6cm

The stand over height varies due to the upward slope of the curved top tube, this results in 3 separate measurements;

rear: 31.75", 80.6cm

center: 32.25", 81.9cm

front: 33", 83cm

Weight is 26.5 lbs.

The shifters are a bit weird I'll update after I get used to them.

With the lack of info on this bike I believe it was a short production, now discontinued item. I will write to Schwinn and post a follow-up.

I'm happy with my purchase and hope you find this review helpful.

I love this bike. It rides super well and wasn't a problem to put together. Everything was lined up and ready to go once I put the needed things on. I was disappointed on the shipping time though. I ordered it early on a Tuesday and was suppose to receive it on a Thursday the 12th and didn't receive it until the 16th. So much for two day shipping

I have gripes about this bike, but overall I'm very happy with it. After riding it for only two trips probably about 4 miles total I lost the back inner tube. Most of the parts seem to be fairly sturdy, but the inner tubes will probably need to be replaced after the first couple of rides. I would recommend having it tuned up immediately assembly, my wheels need to be trued and the wheel tape will more than likely need to be adjusted. I think that is what popped my tube.

Also keep in mind that this is a large framed bike, my inseam is 29 inches, and I wish I had about 2-3 more inches of clearance, so I would recommend you be about 6 feet tall or have an inseam of about 32 inches to be really comfortable.

Riding this bike for commuting has been a breeze compared to my old mountain bike, since I work in an urban hilly area. The old mountain bike was from a big box store and didn't have a locking suspension, you loose all your momentum going up hill on a full suspension bike. The hills are so much easier now, it's like night and day. I think that I'm going to put about 1000 miles on this bike and if I really enjoy bike commuting I'll upgrade to a $600-$900 bike after that.

If you are a commuter, keep in mind that this bike I'm assuming is a race model, or stripped down model. There are no eyelets for mounting a pannier rack on the back or fenders. I didn't even know to look for that since I'm not an avid rider.

Still having fun on this bike.

Love this bike.

Update:

I've sold this bike, some it was my fault, some of it was the fault of the bike. This bike was not a good fit size for me, and the components are very low end. I ended up wearing out this bike after a month of very hard commuter riding, which is not the intended purpose of this bike. It doesn't have eyelets for commuter accessories like panniers or fenders. I really wish that it did have those, wet riding is not fun in this bike. Also I did have an accident on this bike which completely ruined the rear deraiuler, and the rear wheel set is not meant for a person over about 150 lbs, I snapped 4 spokes almost immediately. The frame is not a bad frame, if it fits your body size, but this $250 bike needs about another $500 worth of basic upgrades to make it a reliable daily use bike.

Honest reviews on Schwinn Men's Phocus Bicycle (Black)

i upgraded to this bike, from a 70's schwinn varsity 45lb steel frame, to this and i love it... this bike weighs less than 20lbs and so far ive put 250 miles on it and have not had a single problem, i live in idaho and goat head weeds thrive here... i love the bike and im planning to get a smaller version of the bike for my wife... Great price fast shipping it got here 5 days after the order was placed..

It's a good bike just need to upgrade a lot of things on it. And the worst thing about it is that if you need fenders or a rack it doesn't have a place for them. And for some reason it has a spot for a front rack or fender... Honestly get a different bike

Purchased this for our grandson's 2nd birthday. The only difficulty was reading the instructions; grandparent eyes need a magnifying glass for the small print! We were able to put it together in less than an hour. Very good quality, and easy to assemble. We've taken it out in the neighborhood, and he loves it! Smooth ride, safety harness, stationery foot rests (until he can reach the pedals), front & rear baskets, easy to steer (unless he tries to run us onto the lawn), and comfortable for an hour-long stroll. Overall a huge success!

Reviews of Challenge Latex Tube

Challenge Superlite Latex Corsa Tube - 700 x 19-23, PRESTA Valve, 47mm
Customer Ratings: 4 stars

These tubes produced a more supple ride with Michelin Mud 2's on Mavic Ksyriums. Can go to lower pressures (around 30ish psi as I weigh 165 lbs) as they seem to be more resistant to pinch flats than butyl tubes. They also don't bleed pressure as quickly as other latex tubes I've tried. All in all, a good product for its intended use. I really like the ride feel and feedback.

I've been riding on my new latex tubes for just over two months now and LOVE them. Max PSI is only 108, so I top them off at 100. I use these on my road bike for my 12 mile commute every day to work. I was averaging between 1-5 flats a month on butyl, I've got two months without a single flat.

Con= I do fill up every morning, but I checked them every morning before I got these too.

Great tire, leaks more, but is MUCH more forgiving.

My bike skills are not fine honed enough to benefit from needing to worry about a latex tube. Installed in both tires. I could not distinguish a faster or smoother ride. Front tube blew after 8 miles. Rear tube ran for about 100 miles on several 20-30 mile rides. I changed back to a normal tube before a 100 mile ride so I would not spend the day worrying about a blowout.

Honest reviews on Challenge Latex Tube

the only drawback is that it loses air overnight so if pumping up before every ride is not a problem, these are great.

I like these a lot.

I put them on with Michelin Pro4 tires. Immediately felt cushier and livelier. Not quite the feel of tubular tires, but pretty close. Pumping up tires every time before the ride isn't a problem it is simply a good practice. However, I was told these tubes are better for lighter riders and for alloy wheels, because carbon wheels produces more heat and butyl tubes supposed to handle heat better (who really know?)

I searched all over the internet to find the perfect bike mount for my Jeep. I wanted a light, easy to use bike mount that I can easily put away in the back of the Jeep when not in use. The allen bike rack met the criteria.

The only problem I had was the poor shipping for the rack but I am not rating the rack based on the shipping. When it shipped it was in its original packaging and when it arrived home the box was all beat up and it was open. No manual inside except the rack. I was not to sure if anything else came with it. I downloaded the manual from the web. According to the manual I had everything I needed to use the rack.

After learning to mount the rack on the spare tire you can easily put it on in less than 5 minutes. Once it is mounted it feels really strong. It seems like it may not hold much but it really can hold much. When not in use you can take it off faster than you can put it on.

What I really like about this rack that I did not like on others is:

-I can swing my gate open with the bikes in place

-Super easy to mount/unmount

-My hitch is free for other uses

-Price

-Very light weight

What I don't like:

-The part that rests on the wheel/rim is not covered with rubber or anything. A wrapped cotton towel took care of the problem but it does not look pretty

-Bikes can be a little too close and bang to each other if using 3 bikes. I have only 2 and use the first and third mount and I have not problems.

I have a 2003 CR-V and this carrier works great. I initially thought I would have some problems with the lower anchors but managed to find two places to hook them. I put two adult bikes and a kids bike on it and they stayed secure for a 30 minute trip with highway speeds. The carrier itself takes less than five minutes to install and folds up to fit in a closet when not in use.

Best Deals for Allen Sports Deluxe 3-Bike Spare Tire Mount Rack

The rack composition is lite-weight and easy to install. Some of the rubber components are flimsy (they fell off right away) and the straps that hold the bike in a locked position are NOT to be trusted. The strap broke before I even took off with the bikes on the road.

The straps to tie down to the spare tire are not long enough and you NEED alternate method of securing the rack to the tire. Go to Wal Mart and by tie-downs with hooks.

Make sure you put a pad on the bottom rung of the rack otherwise it will rub and scratch your tire.

The rack is ok for the price. I took it on a 600 mile highway speed ride. As long as you buy those extra straps and tie the bike to the rack with line and secure it....you will be ok.

Hope it helps.

Honest reviews on Allen Sports Deluxe 3-Bike Spare Tire Mount Rack

I bought this bike carrier and overall I like it. It's very easy to put on and take off and holds the bike easily enough. The stirrups that hold the bike are on the small side, so if you have a bike with a frame that's wider in diameter, like a mountain bike, you will have to buy a tension bar for it. Also, it doesn't come with any padding on the lower part that rests on the spare, so it has put some scratches on my wheel. Also, the top part that goes behind the tire should be more padded. It's taken off my paint in that area. Just be sure to rest it on some padding or try to position it so it's not touching paint.

I was nervous about 2 things before I bought this bike rack. 1. I own a 2005 CRV and I was told I couldn't buy a bike rack for it. 2. Everyone was writing about how lousy the packaging was for this product. I live in a very rural area and if a box was going to get busted up it was surely going to happen coming to my house.

Well, I they were wrong on BOTH counts! I love this bike rack! I can put it on all by myself(no man or engineer needed)! It fits perfectly. My bike is safe and secure. It does not hang out beyond the edge of the vehicle. Do not hesitate buying this if you own a Honda CRV. Also, the box was in perfect condition when delivered.
