This bike trainer is well made and has proved very worthwhile attached to my older mountain bike. When the instruction manual states that a knobby tire is not recommended it is not kidding. I didn't have a smooth tire initially and the noise and vibration was horrible. Using a cheap smooth tire made a huge difference and now the trainer is nice and quiet. I take off 1 star because of the bar-mounted resistance adjustment lever. I could not get it to work; the instructions were useless. The gears on the bike provide all the resistance variance I need so the extra lever was a waste of money. Get the model without the remote lever and save about $10.

This is a pretty good trainer for the money it costs. It does make some noise, but its not unbearable: the TV is still audible.

It was somewhat difficult to set up: make sure your back tire is tight against the roller if it is slipping at all it will wear down in no time.

Even so, it does seem to wear down my back tire pretty fast, so I am thinking of getting a wheel with a Continental tire made for trainers.

I got the model with the remote, but have not really used it. The remote is hard to set up (both on the magnet and on the bike), and it keeps falling off.

I really like this trainer in terms of it's build quality, ease of assembly despite so-so instructions and slightly funky cable installation. I've been using it for about 2 hours a week for the past two months and none of the pieces seem to feel like they are going to wear any time soon. Along with a block for the front wheel it all feels totally stable and that I could use this for the next 3 years without having a problem. In terms of noise, I wear around-the-ear headphones which are semi-open (AKG 240s) and I can watch TV or listen to music without having to push the volume up to compensate.

Once assembled the adjustments are all pretty straight forward and your bike should fit easily. They thoughtfully include a replacement skewer in the box in case yours doesn't fit or you are afraid of scratching the finish on yours. There are also online videos which help assembling and mounting your bicycle for the first. Most of it is pretty intuitive, so even without reading the instructions very carefully I had it assembled in less than 20 minutes. With properly inflated tires I found the tension knob too tight to actually turn per instructions, and rather painful too. Fortunately I did not have any problems with tire slippage with far less tension. There are no online manuals or videos explaining how to attach the remote shifter, but this may be a moot point. Which brings me to the major criticism of this model, resistance.

A little background, I'm in my 40's and really out of shape. If I found the resistance range pretty narrow and too light I would guess anyone in better athletic condition will want to start with a trainer with a higher resistance capacity, which this one just won't give you.

Having lived with it for a while, I think I should have either bought the model without the cable, saving myself the money or spent the extra $60-$120 to start with the Magneto or Fluid2, then I wouldn't be thinking of upgrading so early.

Honest reviews on CycleOps Mag+ Indoor Bicycle Trainer Trainer with Bar Mounted

A little noisy but with headphones you can hardly tell. I have really enjoyed this trainer. It's easy to set up/take down, it provides a great work out and it's small enough to store in out small apartment. Over all a great purchase. It even arrived before the expected shippment date!

It is very simple to put together and mounting your bike is even easier. This would be perfect for a person looking for a light workout, but it does not provide enough resistence for a serious bike rider. The tension adjustments are barely noticable. I should have opted for the more expensive, but more refined fluid trainer. Don't make the same mistake.

Ultegra FC-6600G 10-Speed Chainring Review

Shimano Ultegra FC-6600G 53t 10-Speed Chainring
Customer Ratings: 4 stars

A couple of years ago one of the teeth on the chainring that came with my bike split in half. I replaced it with a FSA chainring that lasted for about 500 miles before 3 teeth broke off. Since all the other components on the bike are Shimano Ultegra I decided to go with something I'd have good experience with. This chainring now has 300 miles on it and hasn't had any issues.

What kind of an idiot would zip tie the front wheel to the frame by the spokes? 3 spokes were bent, another 4 loose. I am going to have to go into a shop to get the front wheel spokes retensioned and checked for trueness.

Also... although this bike rides great, don;t expect the in the barrel shifter to work straight out of the box. I had to adjust it to stop it from hunting between second and first gear constantly. Just search for a video on youtube... not difficult... but a pain if you have never done it.

I will not ding the bike itself any stars for the idiot packaging this... because it really is very well designed and seems really well made.

Other than this, I can;t really fault the bike. It looks to me like it is of the same quality as my wife's Electra I paid over $700 for. And I could be mistaken here... but the position of the pedal looks very much like a copy of the Electra Flat Foot Technology thing... which makes this bike climb like a mountain goat.

I am a short guy... 5'6" and a half! The half is very important :) and it fits me fine.

The gear ratios overall are a little tall for my liking... but this thing is a real joy to ride. Cruising along San Diego with my wife and kids is just a lot of fun. I almost feel guilty seeing sweat drip off the kids as they try to keep up with me.

After a recent trip to San Diego, I decided it was time to buy a beach cruiser. Everybody on them seemed so happy and relaxed. They weren't racing to get somewhere, or negotiating some crazy mountain trail, they were just riding their bikes. I have a very nice mountain bike, but it rarely gets used (since I don't like riding down mountains!). My family enjoys riding bikes, and now that I have the cruiser, I enjoy going with them.

About the bike I didn't like the idea of getting a singel speed, so I got the 3-speed. Very glad I did. My neighborhood has slight inclines and declines, and I love shifting through the gears to find the sweet spot. The seat is big and comfy (though I may upgrade to an even bigger and comfier one since I'm a big guy). Everything on the bike seems well made. For the price, I got more than I was expecting. Paint looks good, hand grips are nice, and the shifter is Shimano. No complaints about the bike.

About the company I have been completely impressed with beachbikes. The bike arrived quickly and in good condition. There was a personalized note (hand written) welcoming me to the family and thanking me for the purchase. I was assigned a mechanic in the event I had any questions (none yet). The website is great as well. There are instructional videos on how to do just about all the maintenance on your bike, and those have helped me already from setting up the bike to adjusting my chain. I am confident that if I had any problems with the bike they would happily help me. GREAT customer service to this point.

Really like both the bike and the company.

I bought this bike last summer so that I could ride with my girlfriend. She tends to like to go slow and look at the scenery. The bike is very comfortable, and having three speeds really makes it easy to adjust my pedaling speed. The first evening we went for a ride we ended up at a classic car show and many people there commented on the good looks and styling of the bike. Also as I am 6' 230lbs this bike fits me well, and feels spacious, yet handles just fine.

Honest reviews on sixthreezero Men's In The Barrel Beach Cruiser Bicycle, 26-Inch

I am a mountain biker and demand quite a bit out of my mountain bikes. I purchased the cruiser because I wanted to ride with my younger kids and be able to relax. I can tell you this bike is every bit as good as my 1200 bikes. It's well constructed and spins smothly. I'm impresed with the construction and if ther's a way to best describe the bike is by saying is SOLID. I've owned it for three two years and have had no problems.

I've had the bike now for over a year, and have had zero issues with it. Its well designed and easier to pedal uphills vs other beach cruisers I've ridden. Nice work!

I bought two sets of these because I wanted to set up my cruizers with a few speeds. I was first looking at the Weinmann AS7X 26" Shimano Nexus 3-Speed Alloy Wheel Set with Shifter/Cable for $134. When I was ready to order them Amazon said they were out of stock and maybe not carrying them anymore. I found these and decided to order them. All in all the rims were very nice, they were true and made of heavy gauged aluminium. I knew that they didn't come with the shifter cables so I ordered two sets of them. My problem was that they don't come with a chain sprocket, or the shift pin for the hub. They were shipped in big cardboard boxes, but the hub stems had broken through on all four boxes exposing them. If they did have pins, they're sitting on the floor of a Fed Ex truck now. After buying two chain sprockets for $10 each, and two hub pins for $6 each and the shifter cables with the grip shifts for $12 I would have been better off getting the other ones for $134 complete. They are now offered again, Thanks Amazon....

If you decide to go with these rims make sure you are aware that they do not come complete and you'll have to order a few more things in order to get them working right. Maybe the seller could tell you this in the description so you don't have to wait another week for the other parts or wasting gas going to the local bike shop to get them there. The pins that Shimano has comes in two sizes, 168 MM and 198 MM. This hub takes the shorter pin, 168 MM. I hope this helps you out as far as selecting a rim for your particular set up. Again I want to say that my low rating is not for the rims which were absolutely fine, just the lack of the seller's description of what you're actually getting and NOT getting.

Azonic Momentum Axle (3/8- Inch, 12- mm x 135- mm) Reviews

Azonic Momentum Axle

Allows a 135x12 wheel to work in a standard QR Frame. This wasn't 100% clear from the description or other reviewers comments before I bought it, so clarifying for anyone else out there looking for a way to use a 135 x 12 wheel in and older standard QR Frame.

Installation was not too complicated I would suggest using spacers between nuts and frame nuts really dig in to frame if you don't. The thru axle went in perfect fit and the feel of my bike is a lot better. bike feels stiffer and I feel like there is more power transfer to rear wheel when pedaling. I definitely feel much more traction going through grass and other off road trails. The down side is the double bolt design which can make fixing a flat on a trail harder then quick release skewer and Axle is a little on heavy side 108g. I just ordered a sun ringle conversion axle to try it out since it is lighter 56g and you can use a skewer with it but I am not sure if it will be as stiff as the azonic momentum which is pretty solid. Definitely rear thru axle is a great upgrade.

UPDATE REVIEW

I have now tested the azonic momentum axle (chromoly) vs sun ringle thru axle (aluminum) here is what i found sun ringle is lighter aluminum looks better and is easier to install and remove ........but for me the winner is Azonic momentum for some reason the chromoly thru axle feels like it transfers power from tire to road more efficiently feels like bike handles and responds better and picks up speed faster I thought the difference in feel was just a mistake so i tested one after the other on short rides and azonic was the clear winner in performance sun ringle wins in looks and ease of install and removal but i think the stiffer aluminum axle decreases power transfer since it is very stiff the azonic axles chromoly build has more flex and it just performs better but it is heavier by 50 grams. will be using Azonic axle for fun factor and performance.

I ordered this to stiffen up the rear of my burly AM SC Heckler build and because I couldn't seem to get the qr tight enough to really trust on some of the more gnarlier trails. One time the qr even came all the way out of the dropouts.

I've been riding this axle for about a month now and it's given me more confidence on the bike and made the rear feel much less flex-y.

I previously resisted converting from qr because of the convenience factor but it's honestly not a big deal and I'm kicking myself I didn't convert sooner.

Honest reviews on Azonic Momentum Axle (3/8- Inch, 12- mm x 135- mm)

steps the 12mm x 135mm hub down to fit 135mmx10mm rear dropouts , the fitment is good , really solid construction . a lil bit on the heavy side but who cares when it goes on a DH bike. when you tighten it the nut will bit into the frame/dropouts, so i used 2 washers in between the axle nut and the dropout to prevent damage . cant ask more for the prie, awesome buy !!

Works as advertised. Allows you to use a 12mm thru axle hub with a 10x1 frame. Saved me a lot of hassle and money.
