I have a number of bikes and each bike's toolbag is outfitted with a pair of these levers.

HINT: Buy two packs of these levers and you'll have enough for three bikes!

They have worked almost without exception to enable flat fixes and tire change outs while in the garage or on the road. (The one exception was when trying to install 700x27, yes 27, Panaracer wire beads onto a Shimano 540 wheelset for cyclocross then I had to resort to the big boys the beefy man-sized metal Park TL-5s)

HINT: These levers, unlike the TL-4s, have a very useful feature. See those hooks on the end? Nope, they're not for gutting fish on the pier or for cleaning out field fowl after shot-gunning in the cornfield use them to hook onto a nearby spoke after levering a portion of the tire off your wheel's rim very, very handy as a third hand!

These levers are a rare bargain and a standout example of quality and utility in today's corncucopia of cheap import tools get a pair for your kit or bag!

Context: I ride about 120 miles a week and spend much of my free time repairing/refurbishing/building bicycles.

I love these tire levers because they are plenty sturdy enough, and most importantly, small and lightweight. I have a set of the CrankBros steel ones(which are AWESOME), but I don't ride with them because they're obnoxiously big and heavy. These lil guys fit into a tiny top bar-mounted pack meant for gelpacks --along with a multi tool, a patch kit, and a squirt gun :)

As someone noted above, they may break or bend on high-tension wheels -he mentioned 23x700s, and I've found the same to be true on my Contis as well. I've done tons of work on kids' bikes, and that is usually the only other situation when one of these levers bends or breaks. (Stripping little kids' bike tires is a PITA!!!)

But for general usage, these can not be beat. I am just now replacing a set I've had for several months (and as you might tell, I use them a LOT) and that's because I handed them off to a friend who had a blowout near my neighborhood. I'm doubling up on my order, actually.

I bought these due to the Park Tools reputation.

They worked well on wider tires (MTB). Unfortunately they don't work on the Continental Ultra Gatorskin 23 x 700C tires on my road bike.

The spoke hooks on two of the levers broke off after a few uses; the end used for prying the tires off have bent backwards, making them completely useless. Granted, these tires are incredibly difficult to install and remove. However, I expected a Park Tools product to be up to the challenge.

The only tool that works on my Continental tires is the Crank Brothers speed lever.

Works fine, and the handy-dandy spoke hook does help to hold the tire off the rim while working with a second tool to continue dismounting the tire. A little care and technique will avoid breaking the tool, it's not made of titanium, and with 3 in a pack, there is at least one spare. Delivered as expected, inexpensive and light weight, easy to carry with you, the extra tire, tube, and patch-kit might slow you down a bit.

Great little set. I had never changed a bike tire before but with these tools and a little instruction I had done both wheels in no time. Having three is great, you can pop the first one in and use the hook to attack to a spoke, slide a second down a little and hook it, slide a third down and the middle practically falls off. Zipping all the way around with just the second one seemed a bit scary to my and was hard with my tired, but moving down a little at a time with two worked great. All the pieces are identical and snap together nicely. Light weight plastic, not crazy high quality, I could see them wear out eventually, but for the price they're great tools to have around.

We saw this car and thought it would be so cute for our 5 year old, she weighs about 40 lbs and is 3' 9" tall and this car is too small for her to pedal correctly. This website and others says max weight is 70 lbs. but the manual says max weight is 60 lbs. It never gives height which it should because you adjust the pedals according to how tall the child is. There are three different pedal positions and my daughter was on the last holes and she still can barely pedal because she is too tall. Now we have to see if the comp. will take it back if not we are going to gift the car to a smaller child. This is made for a child who is about 3 or 4 years old and 3' tall max height! It comes w/ decals to add to the car, so you can personalize it w/ their name, our decal package were all uppercase letters which the picture clearly shows small and uppercase letters to use it also shows you can use an apostrophe in the child's name, this also was NOT in the decal package. We are so disappointed in this purchase, and my daughter is even more so because she loves the car so much.

I had a nice old all metal pedal car just like this as a kid. Who didn't?

Of course, mine was a rusty old hand-me-down from my elder cousins. That car, like this car, was made of steel. They tend to last a long time; they go through a lot of kids! Despite the rust, I loved that thing and I played with it constantly.

Now my daughter has the same thing to enjoy. Heavy? Sure. It's built like a tank. BUT how many other pedal cars out there can you wash, wax, and buff just like daddy does to his car?

Besides, more parents should be buying HUMAN-powered toys for kids today. What kind of 4 year old needs to be relaxing in a giant plastic humvee with blingin' rims just stomping on a pedal to make a electric motor propel them around the yard?

They've got plenty of time to get lazy later. In the meantime, have 'em work up a sweat and sleep hard.

I left off the decals and went for a sano look. The chrome polishes up nicely!

This is my second pedal car purchase (two grandchildren who both loved the first one). Fairly easy assembly, all parts present and accounted for. Sturdy construction, but the paint job left a little to be desired. The unit I received had black flecks all along one side. I don't think the kids will notice/care. Was hoping the decals were die-cut; they weren't. If you want to use any of them, get ready to do some careful trimming. I bypassed all of that and just got some chrome pin-striping from the local auto shop and created my own look. I was also disappointed to find that this unit is a one-wheel-drive system (the opposing rear wheel is not keyed to the drive axle). It would have taken very little to apply the same engineering to the other wheel to make this a two-wheel drive. But for relatively cheap money, this car is still a good buy.

Review of Shimano SG-8C31 Coaster Hub Kit Nexus (Silver, 36H 8 Speed Coaster

Having burnt out a few coaster brake hubs in the past 20 years with extended use, I am generally happy with this hub. It has performed well, in comparison to the problematic (Shimano) 3-speed coaster brake hub that it replaced.

The 8-speed's coaster brake works well and doesn't squeal on steep descents. The reason I am not giving it 5 stars is that 4th gear is usually worthless. When shifting down to it on slight ascents, I can feel an appropriate gear ratio kicking in, but that benefit is pretty much wiped out by the internal friction that also seems to kick in with that gear. Occasionally, similar friction accompanies 3rd gear the same gear that gave me problems with a Nexus 7 pedaling to Alaska years ago.

These experiences tell me that this part of the gear range needs some attention at Shimano. I have adapted my riding to skip past these gears, or only use them in special circumstances like parking lots. A happy exception came on a camping trek up the rugged Big Sur Coast. Although the bike was heavily loaded down, strangely all gears worked fine.

I upgraded my nexus 3 speed townie to an 8 speed. At first it seemed like it wasn't that much different. Maybe a little lower. Maybe a little higher. The one thing I did notice first thing was how much quieter it is than the nexus 3. I'm sure now (5 months of riding it) I'll never go back to a 3 speed.

Like the other reviewers noticed: 4th gear kind of grinds.

Sometimes I shift to a gear and can feel it grinding. Even if I stop pedaling and start back up. Maybe I don't have the trick yet. Its not perfect. But its pretty good.

The first month it really grinded every time I shifted to first gear. Now that its broke in it usually shifts to first with no problems.

I've been wanting to setup my old Kona Humuhumunukunukuāpuaa with this 8 speed internal hub for over a year now. I finally purchased it and had it laced up on an Alex Rims X-202 earlier this week. Today I installed it with the Shimano ST-8S20A Nexus Shifter/Brake Lever. What a great combination. It was easy to mount and adjust and I am very happy with the setup. Fast shifting, no grinding, and lower gear ratio compared to my old 7 speed internal hub. I love it! I'm planning to do some cruising up and down Front Street in Lahaina and this will make my ride really effortless. I live in Central Maui and I do come across some slight grades so this setup will make my rides much more fun.
