Reviews of SRAM PG-980 Cassette

I always use SRAM cassettes and chains on the Shimano XT drivetrain of my Giant Tance X mountain bike. Smooth shifting and durable, there is no reason to spend more for a cassette. I use SRAM cassettes and chains on my Shimano Ultegra road bike as well.

I wanted a new cassette for my road bike that would give me a larger sprocket than the 28T and the SRAM did not disappoint me. It fit my road bike perfectly, with a compact crank and a regular Shimano rear deraileur. The bike shops will tell you it doesn't fit, but I've now added the SRAM 11-32T 9-speed and 10-speed cassettes to both my road bikes, and they fit perfectly. All you have to do is to adjust the rear derailleur for it to fit.

I bought this considering the PG-990 is only a few grams less. The first 3 or 4 low gears are connected to a single thick ring on the spider giving you more connection to the cassette body, and less marring. I had to file off the burrs left by my old SLX cassette because each cog had eaten into it so much.

Overall I'm impressed more by SRAM products than Shimano lately. The x-9 lineup is just awesome.

Honest reviews on SRAM PG-980 Cassette

Very light and functions perfectly and precise. I am replacing all 4 of my bikes with this item. I was surprised at how nice this cassette functioned. Very pleased with purchase.

I have this trike in purple. My daughter is 2 and has low tone CP and we bought this for her 2nd birthday. This trike is great!!! It provides all the support she needs while giving her the opportunity to be a crazy 2 year old. The steering and handling on my end is a dream! I tried several other brands in the store and smart trike had the best handling. I only went with the reclining model because of her needs but all the smart trikes were awesome!

It works great and installation directions weren't too bad. It took a little interpretation but went together well. It works great and I enjoy it.

My rating is pretty meaningless because I am returning the part without opening it. I ordered it at the same time as ordering a Schwinn Meridian Adult trike for my sister with the intention of upgrading the single speed Meridian to a 3-soeed. The Meridian has a very unusual single speed freewheel hub with a roller brake mounted at the junction point of the front part of the bike and the rear section of the trike. The hub is used, in part, to bolt the two sections of the trike tiogether. As a result, this hub has an axle length of about 8 inches or 200 mm. The Sturmey-Archer hub in this kit has an axle length of about 7 inches.

I recieved this in 1 day...I don't know how it arrived so quickly. It comes in two pieces. You only need to attach 4 small and three large bolts and you are ready to go. Be sure to get a hitch pin ( sold seperately) I went to Home Depot for mine. This carrier is nice cause it is extra large, very sturdy, but not overly akward to attach. I store mine on 2 recycling bins so that I can easily slide it a bit to adjust for attaching to the hitch. You need a torque wrench ( or a friend who has one ) to secure the 11 bolts. Very simple assembly. This one is the larger size and I'm glad I chose it cause as you will find that in practical use you can haul many more items. I bought wratcheting straps, but the "octopus-style" bungee cords seem to work best for my uses unless you really have a top-heavy or tippy item. I also like the fact that with this one you can add lights...the cutouts are built in the frame. You dont need them for day errands but if I were driving long distance or night travel I would go for the lights. The frame seems very sturdy and I have kept it outside uncovered for several months now. There is the start of rusting at the bolt heads, but I suppose that is to be expected. Perhaps you could spray rustoleum on them as a preventitive. I also notice that there is a very light rust tinge along only one support bar where the steel mesh lies over and must be welded to it. If I could, I would store it in a shed or garage. The hitch bar has a rise to it and I wouldn't

buy one without the rise feature as it adds necessary clearance. Mine has had zero problems over gradings and culverts. For 125 dollars delivered, it is well worth the price for saving me and my forester the aggravation of loading messy/bulky/stinky items into my car and adding lots of cargo carring capacity.

I will keep this short because my title sums up my overall sentiment.

Pros...

+ Solid construction

+ Design allows for good distance between carrier & bumper

Easy access to rear tailgate (SUV)

Plenty of clearance to open tailgate vertically

+ Assembly was straight forward, but allow for extra time

Follow directions; use a torque wrench for peace of mind

+ Impact to fuel economy was relatively minimal.

Hwy MPG was 17.8, vs 19.4, with ~200# load secured in rainproof duffle

Cons (minor)...

+ Packaging could use a redesign; incurred minor chips and scratches fixed with rustoleum

One of two zip ties holding arm broke allowing for it to swing in transit

The two corner supports need to be sturdy cardboard or foam, and need to be adhered

+ Item is bulky.

Practice putting it on & removing it a few times before your first use

Separate note on:

Assembly... Take time to consider how you will orient the arm. It is designed with a slight arc to allow for additional clearance, if you need it. Generally, car or minivan hitches will be lower to the ground than a hitch on a SUV or truck.

Recommended purchases... Consider the following (I bought these; added peace of mind and increase my overall satisfaction of the carrier):

Rola 59102 Expandable Hitch Tray Cargo Bag

Master Lock 1480DAT Stainless Steel Receiver Lock for 5/8' Receiver Hole

Grizzly Gear Large 36" x 60" Cargo Net with 16 Durable Nylon Hooks Stretches to 60" x 90"

Good:

This unit is bigger than the others. It is 24" wide, when most are 20". I like the extra space for holding those plastic boxes.

Arrived fast

Seems strong enough, looks good enough

Weighs 60lb. Easy to carry by rails with one person and lots of space. For tight areas, may be better with two people.

Not so good:

Shipping box, as others have said, seems inadequate. My UPS guy apologized and said I might want to inspect the package. I told him it's OK, the thing is strong metal, won't be broken but will be scratched. No big deal, since it's not fragile, but it should be better.

Assembly:

Very easy, I thought. BUT, you are asked to provide a torque wrench and not just any torque wrench. I have two, and one only goes up to 45 ft-lbs. Only my heavy-duty torque wrench can handle the 75 ft-lbs required by the 3 big bolts of this carrier. However, my thinking is that you could use a regular ratchet/wrench if you are a strong 175lb+ man and just tighten it as hard as you can. (You assume the risk if your bolts don't hold, of course.) Better to do it right at some point, or swing by any mechanic once you have it basically built but you could use it right away, and fix the torque later.

13mm and 19mm wrenches/sockets needed.

Honest reviews on Pro Series 63153 60" x 24" Hitch Mounted Cargo Carrier (Black)

After much research, I finally opted for this hitch carrier and I and so happy with my choice. Unlike the cheaper models, this carrier is extremely well built and sturdy. Very heavy too. I would not suggest this item for someone who is petite and does not have help to slide it in your receiver, because even for a large man, it is heavy and takes some finesse to do it alone. There were several comments about torque wrench, and you really dont need one. Just tighten up the bolts as tight as possible and you will be fine. Also, the size of this model beats the others by far. My suggestion, spend the extra 40 bucks and buy this model.

I use this to cart our big cooler around and still have room for the kids and the dog in our SUV. It was easy to assemble. Took me about 15 minutes with my 6 year old helping to get it together and pop it onto the truck for the first time. Good size and stability.

I typically have two full coolers, a 150 quart marine cooler and an 80 quart cooler, on this along with miscellaneous camping bits like chairs and an easy-up. We've used is several times, and all welds and bolts are intact.

It was worth the money for me.

Nite Ize See'Ems LED Mini Spoke Lights, Pink Reviews

I bought these in pink and purple. I have one pink and one purple light on each tire. The purple light isnt dark, but its a very pretty purple. The pink looks just as pink as the packaging, but bright when it is lit! There is a small LED light in the very center of the product, which makes you think its impossible to see at night, but the entire piece of plastic is lit up!. I only put 2 lights on each wheel, but have to option to add more. These lights definately make a scene when you ride by! (Thats really what we want, right?!) If you only add one or two lights, you wont see a full circle when your wheel spins, but maybe 1/2 to 3/4 of a circle of light will show. If you add more lights, I am sure you would be able to see a full circle when your wheel is turned. The product is initially hard to turn on and off, but eases up with use. I litterally thought I was going to break the whole shabang when I turned the light off, but I didn't and the light was easy to turn on and off after that, so dont be afraid to put a little muscle into your twisting! If you have a question about mounting, the back has a metal piece on it, much like a binder clip. You open the clip and then slide your spoke into a black piece of plastic (looks like Pac Man with a closed mouth!), then you will slide the metal clip over the top of the black piece to secure it in place. I ran over some huge potholes on accident and my lights were still securely in place when I got home! I have purchased other lights that mount to your tire valve and hit the largest bump possible and didn't have any luck, it obviously stayed in place because it was screwed on, but didn't light up, even for a second. With the Nite Ize, you are guaranteed to be seen as long as you have a working battery! Unlike some other product reviews I have seen, you are able to see the light from BOTH sides of your tires. I definately reccommend this product. I said I have the pink and purple, but I assume the other colors of the See'Em LED lights work just as well! Good Luck!

hello,

the primary use is for bicycle spokes. but, with the neat clip on bracket, it can be mounted to almost anything small. the led light is very bright for such a small item. changing batteries is easy, but turning the light on for the first time was a little difficult. it may deflate people with less gripping power. so, to counter act this hard turning product, we turned it 10 times to get a little wear on the friction. the 11th time, twisting it on and off became so easy. it has to be hard to turn at the beginning, otherwise, the contacts will wear off faster with the impending on/off use each time. still, it is a great product and deserves 5 stars. nite ize handles a ton of excellent useful stuff and the delivery was super fast .

Love these! I ordered a set for each wheel so I can really be seen at night. They are a bit hard to turn on and off. You have to have strong fingers (Or a pair of pliers) I will be ordering some for the kiddos next summer.

The tires came with my training bike. I mostly had vittoria and continental tires in the past 15 years but I left those on just to see, and I was very pleasantly surprised. No more flats than usual (about 1 every 1000 miles, which I think is an average amount) and excellent traction. I used them up after about 4000 miles filled with 110psi (and even used them for 2 races!!). These are certainly not as good as $70 tires but if you don't want to spend much, for less then $20 they are great.

I ride on fairly clean roads and in less than 300 miles I had 2 Kenda Koncept tires cut completely through the tread and become useless. I have never had any other tires fail this quickly. Stay away from these.

Best Deals for Kenda Koncept Road Tire 700 x 23C Wire Black/Orange

I bought an expensive bicycle on the Internet. It had very high quality powertrain components and a carbon frame. The bicycle was purchased on eBay from Bottechia USA. Unfortunately, in order to keep the cost of this assembled bicycle down the vendor used very low quality wheels and tires.

These Kenda Koncepts are heavy and BOTH have failed with less than 500 miles. In both cases the sidewall separated I'm very glad that I inspect my tires regularly as I don't like to think about the possibility of a blowout on a 40 mi./h descent. I'm a firm believer in "you get what you pay for". At $13 a pop shouldn't expect much however I had every right to expect a better quality tire on a bicycle costing $1800. Shame on you Kenda and Bottechia USA. Additionally, my local bike shop mechanic told me that it is impossible to true the Vuelta X RP Pro wheels. Stay away from them also. A wheel starts out as a strip of metal that is formed into a circle and joined. If there is a pronounced overlap at the join point you will have a "bump" and it can't be fixed.

There is a lesson here about buying a bicycle on the Internet consisting of very high quality powertrain components at a price that seems too good to be true. The components were primarily duraAce and work very well. In the background there are dirt cheap components in order to meet a price point. These Vuelta wheels and Kenda tires are gone now replaced with a very nice set of dura ace wheels and tubeless tires. It would have been nice not to have to spend over $500 in a wheel and tire upgrade.

Finally, my riding is all on the road and the roads that I ride are 95% good quality with a little shake and bake thrown in but nothing that should have caused both tires to fail in such a short period of time. (Dictated using Dragon NaturallySpeaking version 11 if anything in the previous review doesn't make sense, chalk it up to lack of proofreading)
