I needed a rear rack with no frills and excellent weight capacity for a special project. To make a long story short, I've clamped 55 pounds worth of lead-acid battery to the support struts of this thing and it holds up like a champ. I've ridden the bike it's attached to for a few months now and I'm happy to report that there's no creaking, cracking or bending to speak of. Money well spent.

A few things to note, however:

-The included screws seem to be made of soft material, and even though they have low-profile look compared to regular hex screws it's very easy to strip out the hex socket and make it difficult to remove later. Either take care during installation or replace them with something more durable.

-You'll need pre-existing seat-stay holes on your bike's frame to install this with just the included hardware. Otherwise you may need to resort to P-clamps or hose clamps, which can be found at some hardware stores.

Had this rack a couple years now, with 10,000 miles on my bicycle hauling all sorts of stuff on this rack. It's carried the load like a champ. My only complaint is that the front mount should be something stronger than the bendable metal strips used in other racks, since this one is made to carry so much weight. With a heavy load, the rack tends to sway. I partially fixed this by crossing the metal strips in a X and bolting them together in the middle.

Man did I search high and low for a rack that would fit my Pugsley with no modifications. This rack accomplished that with ease. I will say that the good fit was because I used a Salsa seat-post Post Lock that has threaded mounting holes. I ordered it just in case and must say that it worked great. I just could not seem to get the braze on posts on the upper triangle to work.

This is a heavy rack...and long. Long enough to act like a fender. It also mounts a little high, but that has allowed my big feet to clear the Jandd Grocery panniers that I got. The height also gives me more clearance from snow packing in.

The rack bolts right to the lower braze-on posts, by simply mounting one on the inside and the other on the outside. This accommodates for the Pugsley's offset frame and centers perfectly.

If you only put one rack on the back of your bike, this is the one. It's big, it holds a ton (well, ok 50lbs, but that feels like a ton when you're riding around). It's so big, it makes your butt look smaller by comparison.

I bought this rack for 2 reasons first it is a very sturdy rack and has one of the longest if not the largest deck of any standard rear rack. My second reason is that i want to use large rear panniers, but I have a short chainstay and large feet and this rack has very straight and simple lines and this will make any modifications i might have to do less complex. My bike also has rear disc brakes so i used the Jandd disc brake fender adapters which seem to be the most solid solution available however the rack is so solid that it does not like the amount of spread I had to put on it and unlike other less sturdy racks it lacks the ability to conform easily. With all that being said I have no doubt that it can sustain and exceed its weight handling specifications an if it was used on a non disk bike it would be even more solid. For the price, size, and quality it is a very good value.

Initially, I was quite impressed with this freewheel for under $10. The color was cool, the coasting (clicking) sound it made was very cool, and obviously it was cheap; perfect on a flip flop hub on a fixed gear bike.

However, after about a month it started to get quite rusted all over it.

I recommend spending a little more (like on a Shimano) to prevent rusting, especially if you're making a single speed.

I bought this because I was building a single speed to ride until I could finish my other build. I've been using the single speed everyday since September. Its held up to the beating pretty well. Great for the money, if I building another SS I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

I have 3500 miles on them so far this summer. They are very smooth riding, with no significant signs of wear. I have ridden in rain and hot weather. They have not exhibited any bad habits, or uneven wear. They should get at least 10,000 miles at the current rate of wear. That figures out to $.02 per mile for the pair.

Buy Strider ST-3 KTM Balance Bike

Anyone looking into a stride bike knows the value of them developmentally for their children. My son is no exception and is doing phenomenally on the bike. The concept of a stride bike is not in question here as any pedal-less bike like this is in business to take advantage of this fact. the issue is this particular bike's construction. For the most part it is great and works like you'd expect. My one ISSUE with the Strider Bike design is the handlebar mount. As you can see in the photo, it is secured with a quick release style clamp so you can raise and lower it to fit your kid. The problem is that the developing rider is going to take an occasional tumble and if he/she goes down on the handlebars (which happens 87% of the time with my son), they get skewed and no longer line up with the front wheel. Sure it is a relatively easy fix, but still is a pain and a design flaw. I have the quick release clamp tightened so it is scoring the metal and scraping the paint off so this is not an issue with owner incompetence either.

All things considered, it still is a good bike. If I had to do it all over again, however, I would have researched other companies instead of buying on name recognition alone.

This was super easy to put together and my baby loves riding it! I would recommend this balance bike to anyone. It's very lightweight and durable. My 4 and 6 year old mess around on it too and use it like a scooter. Great buy.

I'm a frugal guy and often get the generic brand of things but we got the Strider brand bike for our daughter. I thought about just buying her a pedal bike and stripping down the cranks and chain. We also looked into some of the balance bikes that were half the price of this one but ended up going with Strider because it has a number of advantages.

A) Weight: They all weigh almost nothing when picked up by an adult, but a toddler learning the basic mechanics of balancing on two wheels and steering weight is everything. The lack of weight allows them to focus on riding and not on muscling the bike back upright when it starts teetering to the side. It just simply gives them confidence.

B) Height Adjustment: This model has a quick release seat post clamp which makes it super easy to adjust the height of the saddle. The saddle also goes way way down (or you can completely remove it at first, see below). It also has an adjustable steerer tube to change the height of the handlebar (also a quick release clamp).

C) Foam tires: No tubes, no flats, no need to add air. It's always ready to go.

D) Retains value: We looked around for a long time locally to find a used Strider. The best price I found was 85% of MSRP. I have no doubt I can sell this in less than a week for almost what I paid for it. The lifetime cost of the bike will effectively be less than the cheapest knock-off option depending on the condition it's in when she outgrows it.

A Few Pieces of Advice

1) Keep it fun and don't pressure them.

2) Expect you toddler to simply straddle over it and stand there smiling the first five times you try it out. Depending on age, it will then be a couple months of walking with it. They gradually get faster and faster then start coasting. Refer to #1.

3) Buy a bike bell. Refer to #1

4) Buy a really cool helmet and use it even if they are just straddling it. It's not for safety at first, it's to form a habit and make it fun. Refer to #1.

This bike was awesome. My son received it for his second birthday and loves it. The seat lowers more on this bike than other brands. Its really great quality and easy to put together. The only problem we had with the bike was that it was missing one plastic bolt cover. There are supposed to be four, one on each side of the wheel. I think they are supposed to help protect against scratches. We use it mostly outside and the look didn't bother us so we didn't bother getting another.

I bent my ugly and dorky mini-ape hangers that came on my bike in a low-side crash (diesel spill) and I knew that drag bars wouldn't clear my tank without risers, sort of ruining the point, so I heard about euro bend handlebars, and from a fit, comfort and strength point of view these are actually really great. Unfortunately, whatever was used to make them black is not powder coating, it is a thin rubbery plastic-like coating that easily gets scratched. My clutch mount carved a long ribbon of the stuff off going on and my left hand grip folded up what was left. It looks OK with everything on but I have no idea if it is going to corrode under there or what and I wish I had spent the few extra bucks for a powder coated bar.
