I love the bike but.......not having put alot of bikes together it was extremely hard to assemble and the directions were not easy to follow. I called Nirve once and they only have one tech rep and he was out of the office that afternoon and no one else could help me. We finally figured it out and I am out cruising the streets. The buike is built very well. I love my bike.

I got this bike two weeks ago, and as a surprise when I was at work one day, my husband assembled it most of the way. We had a lot of trouble with the "coasting" brakes on the front tire though, and I was surprised that while the rest of the instructions in the booklet were orderly, numbered and helpful, the page covering the brakes was just a picture, with no accompanying instructions. I ended up taking it to a local bike shop and having them finish the brake install and give the whole thing a once-over. Well worth the peace of mind for $35.

Now that I have it in a ready-to-ride state, I LOVE THIS BIKE. I haven't owned a bike for more than 7 years, and this one beats any bike I have owned in the past. I love how upright I sit on it, and the height and width of the handlebars is very comfortable. I am really glad I got the 3-speed, as they are hugely helpful even on the small inclines around my place. The seat is not as cushy as it appears but is definitely better than the tiny saddles on non-cruisers and I have enough padding of my own to supplement.

The style of the bike is spectacular. When the bike shop called to tell me it was ready, the guy said "your gorgeous little cruiser is ready" and he was right. You can't imagine how beautiful this thing is by the photos alone; they don't do it justice. The leather handles and seat, the swirling artwork, the attention to detail on the fenders they even paid attention to the tire tread it's flowers! The white wall tires are rimmed with a bright flourescent that amazingly only makes the bike more beautiful rather than detracting from the retro vibe. I bought it in the cream/green combo and am just ecstatic with the look and feel of it.

I am not a very fit person so didn't want anything overwhelming just something to get out and about on more for fun than anything. Now that I am riding the bike though, I can feel the low-level cardio happening when I'm out, and to me that's simply an added bonus. I ride for fun and if I sweat a little or even shed a pound or two in the process then all the better.

Stop debating and buy this bike right now. You or whoever you're considering buying it for deserves it and you won't find better!!

Great Nirve Minx Women's Three-Speed Cruiser Bike (26-Inch Wheels, Gloss Black) . Saw a picture of this and it looked better.

Honest reviews on Nirve Wispy Women's Cruiser Bike (26-Inch Wheels)

First I want to say that the black bike listed here as a color option of the Nirve Wispy is actually the Nirve Minx. I researched online for several days before purchasing the Nirve Wispy in the Vintage Cream. The Nirve womens bikes are listed in the top ten womens cruisers for 2009. Go to to find superior customer service. They even have videos to send you via email for assembly of your bike. They come to you 85% assembled and the video for completing the assembly is very thorough with great close ups of what is being done in every step and with what tool. The paint job on these bikes has a double coat of clear high gloss! They really gleam in the Sun...or so I've read. My bike is on it's way to me now!

I had thought the product was advertised as made in USA, but it is made in China. The assembly and assembly instructions are difficult to understand and are generic and do not apply to each specific model.

Dahon Formula S18 Folding Bike, White, One Size Review

Dahon Formula S18 Folding Bike, White, One Size
Customer Ratings: 4 stars
Buy Now
I bought a Dahon Formula S18 from Amazon about a month ago. It was shipped free 2-day because I'm a Prime member. The bike arrived with one of its wheel reflectors broken, a minor problem. I briefly chatted about that with Amazon rep, who was very generous in accommodating me.

PROS

* Excellent quality and finish.

* Fast and fairly maneuverable. Generally quiet.

* Aluminum frame is light. Folds quickly and compactly.

* OEM sticky tires provide plenty of traction on pavement, even when wet. Seem tough. No flat yet. 80 PSI good.

* Disc brakes provide excellent stopping power.

* Adjustable handlebar height allows for desired posture.

* Handlebar grips are excellent.

* Rear derailleur works well. Front derailleur only OK but I don't use it much. I keep it on low gear.

* Adjustable height seat is hard and somewhat comfortable, not cushy.

* When folded, allowed on my local public transit, any vehicle, at any time, no extra charge. Also easily fits unfolded in bus rack.

* The handlebar and seat position adjusters hold well, if you set the right tension.

CONS

* On arrival the front derailleur was out of alignment/adjustment. Easily corrected with hex key and screwdriver *if* you know what you're doing.

* When you pedal vigorously, the frame creaks. Haven't localized the flexure yet.

* Magnets on the wheel hubs are supposed to keep the bike folded, but they are not strong enough.

* The bike cannot be rolled when folded. Must be carried.

* Even with 18 speeds, would be nice to have an even lower gear for steep hills.

* The slick tires would be risky in winter snow/ice. Also, up to pressure, they slip in deep dirt.

* Not much room on bike for accessories. They tend to get in the way during folding. I did mount a headlight and bell on the front handlebars.

* When bike is locked in public, the seat could be stolen in two seconds. My cable lock cannot fit through the seat. I had to buy a seat leash.

* When bike is folded, the front gear is exposed, which could poke someone or smear grease.

* No chain guard so need rubber band on right pant cuff.

Bell Road Bike Tire with KEVLAR Review

Bell INERTIA Road Tire 26' x 1 3/8' Black Kevlar
Customer Ratings: 2.5 stars
Buy Now
I recently bought this Bell 27 inch road tire and I'd say, I am pretty happy with it. I ride the roads of New York City and every morning, the roads are littered with broken glass and sharp pebbles and potholes. So far, my tires have held up to its reputation of repelling glass or any sharp items. I will inspect my tires after every ride and will see some glass lodged into it, and i will dust it off and it just falls off. One time a glass DID penetrate but not deep enough to affect my inner tubes. Its a little more difficult to put on than other tires but very much worth it. And as a little bit of info, this tire can be pumped 75 to 90 psi. Happy Riding!!!!

Addendum:

More than a year (its now 8/8/11) after I bought these tires, and after miles and miles of riding, i finally got a flat. BUT--the flat is not because the tires failed--a spoke poked through and punctured my tubes from the inside! The tires held and protected my tubes. Some people here said that Bell makes bad stuff. Maybe they do, but these tires are far from bad. Best tires and best purchase I ever made....

There are several reviewers that are confused about bicycle tire measurements. For good web site that has a full description just look at Sheldon Brown's article

These 27" and 26" tires are made to fit older 10 speed/english racer type bikes. You should remember that the 26"x1-3/8" size predates the MTB era by at least three decades, they came first. If you have an old Raleigh three speed or a 1970s Peugeot then these are the tires you need in the appropriate rim size. In general, if you have a Mountain bike or your bike is less then 20 years old, these are probably the wrong tires for you.

I have used both the 27" and 26" versions on my vintage bikes. I gave them 4 stars because they are about durability and puncture resistance. Both sizes are suited for commuting, city, country roads and heavier riders. If you are considering racing I would chose another tire, but then you wouldn't be on a 50 year old 3 speed bike would you?

As far as slipping off the rim, common installation problem. The bead on tires of that era has problems with the seating the inner tube. The inner tube around the filler valve is thicker so the tire sits on top of it if you aren't careful. Inflate the tire with any part of the bead resting on the tube, the tube will shove the tire off and explode. You can push the filler valve as far as you can into the tire after you mount it, partially inflate the tube when you mount it, stretch the tube, put it inside the tire and mount them together, to make sure there is no part of the tube under the bead.

This listing needs a warning that the 26" X 1-3/8 size is not the same rim size as standard mountain bike and cruiser 26" sizes with a decimal in the width. I think the complaints about the 26" size are all due to not understanding this.

Honest reviews on Bell Road Bike Tire with KEVLAR

Kevlar eh?

warning: these tires are severely difficult to mount. My vehicle of choice is a bicycle, and has been for 20 years, so with it comes the added detail of restoring punctured tires. Avoid these tires if you're a DIY.

Well, it took three weeks for the tire to arrive from SPECIALTY TOOLS USA. I took my negative review down from that company because they quasi-apologized -in fact, they just refunded me the shipping costs and asked me to take my negative review down. In other words, they bribed me with $5. But I figured that's a form of customer service, so...fine.

Got the tire on, and two days later I had a flat. That was a bummer. I don't believe it was a puncture, but a split near the valve. Either way, it's probably worth paying more money on a decent set of rubbers from a local shop.

I couldn't find the Camo anywhere, and everywhere I found the Mechanix brand they were $19.99 $25.99. Got these for much less. I will be using them for Turkey hunting and have already tested them while shooting, they are great and are like a second skin.

The only thing I would recommend is to try them on in the store, these have a tight fit and your size could be off from what you normally where. XL was a perfect fit for me and usually I have a little room in an XL work glove.

I use this gloves and are very nice and comfortable, but they don't look like may hold up on medium or heavy duty work.

Changing tires, adjusting some bolts or fix my bicycle, some protection in cold weather for minor chores. Surely look great in Airsoft games.

But I'm afraid to use them for the big logs for the fireplace.

I made myself a little cut in one finger when cutting a piece of polycarbonate with a grinder and the disc barely touched the glove and cut the nylon ¿? like butter.

Use these in auto body and frame repair. I think they are a great safety necessity. Pretty cool camo look also.

Honest reviews on Mechanix Wear MG-71-011 Original Glove, Camo, X-Large

I usually wear size XL glove. This one ran too narrow across palm and will necessitate getting an XXL. Otherwise ok.

I bought these to replace the worn out store-bought ones. I really liked those gloves. The ones from Amazon are the exact same model, but the manufacturer has changed some things, and they don't fit my long fingers and thumbs quite as well. Overall, I'm happy.
