I really like this item and even though I do not have a back wheel with threads for a freewheel I like it just the same. This seller is great and recommended. Thank you.

I have installed this with no issues.

Smooth bearings and well worth the price.

But you will need a tool for this install to get it tight enough to be safe.

Wanted to put in a positive review as I love my bike! Hey ya need to know how to adjust it to make it right (handle bars, etc), but the instructions go over all of that. The one I received arrived fast and had no missing or damaged/misaligned parts. Took me 15 min to put it togther. The bike rides super smooth, the suspension really does something, and all the gears work smooth. Nice handle bars and nice scale to all the parts. Not much else to a bike to write about. Way better/smoother than the Mongoose bike it replaced (A DH 1.5, that one was a real POS, but didn't know that till I got this one). Just keep everything lubricated and should last a long while.

Don't expect a $2000 Mongoose bike that we all love. If you pay $400 or above for a bike what you get is awesome, but if you pay less than that beware that the drive-train and shift components are sub standard. The bike that I ordered did not work well. The front derailleur would only shift if you took your other hand and wiggled the derailleur while you were shifting. The rear derailleur was noisy. The chain skipped like it was 10 years old. I did not want to bother with returning the bike so I just replaced all of the components mentioned above and everything works fine now... trust me.. spend a little more....

Please don't get me wrong... Mongoose (Owned by Pacific Cycle) is an AWESOME company (They definitely have good products for the price). They just can not make a bike for less than $400 and turn a good profit... it's pressure from the consumer to keep lowering the price (Yes I am guilty of that as well :)). The consumer should expect to pay a little more to get a superior product.

The bike is fine if you plan to change out a couple of parts... Overall the price will still be fair and the bike will work OK after the modifications. Or you could just spend a little more up front...

I bought this bike as a Christmas present for my grandson. It arrived on time. We assembled the bike and found that a rear derailleur element was bent. Not being sure how to proceed, and not wishing to return it the day before Christmas, I took it to a local bike shop, where the problem was diagnosed and fixed. They also found that the front brake caliper was installed backwards (it arrived that way). The bike shop staff told me that "boxed bikes" frequently arrived damaged. They charged me $25 for the repair -well worth avoiding the hassle of return and re-assembling another (possibly damaged) bike. Live and learn.

Nothing extremely fancy but the bike is exactly what was described by the seller and I look forward to using it daily. The gears are a little iffy when you are in the higher levels but that may just be from the self assembling when I put it together.

Just received it so time will tell. Ordered it Saturday night and got in Monday. Took some time to get the brakes and shifts adjusted (especially the front railer). User book has a lot of info in it. Did I say the user book has a lot of info in it? Several brake types, training wheels, etc. Looks like a generic book for several bikes and set ups. This of course means you have to look at the very small pictures and choose what you need.

I bought the trike for my nephew as a Christmas gift. I got it baring in mind that his older brother was getting a real 2 stroke fourwheeler from Santa. It arrived well in advance of Christmas, even though I purchased it a mere two weeks before the holiday. The assembly required could have been done by trained monkeys. He loves it, although his little stubby legs are a bit too short to reach the petals still. His parents are now forced to cart it back and forth everywhere they go because Bren refuses to be parted with his trike.

We got this trike for our 2 1/2 year old son and he absolutely loves it. When looking into this trike I was a little concerned that it looked like a lot of plastic but it is a very rugged trike. Very heavy duty! And it was a breeze to put together! Didnt even need to look at the manual. My 2 year old doesnt want to leave it alone and my 1 year old is trying to convince us that he is big enough for it so I would say it is a big hit at our house.

Pros: Rugged construction with heavy duty frame, kids absolutely love the "real" motorcycle look, stable, durable.

Cons: Misaligned head set bracket (combined with my assembly error) eventually resulted in head set bushing failure.

I bought this trike for a friend who works at a preschool. If the children at this school can't destroy something, it can't be destroyed. They did succeed, after the most intense year of use you can imagine, to break the head set bushings. I called customer service (mentioned in another review) to see if I could buy new head set bushings. Customer service didn't hesitate. They took my name and address, then sent me the new parts at no charge. The guy at customer service suggested that I might have over tightened the head set bolt. He may have been right as I'll explain below. I had the new parts within a few days.

The broken headset bushings were not entirely at fault. The lower head set bracket on the forks was slightly misaligned. The first time I assembled the trike I attempted to align the bracket by over tightening the head set bolt. The plastic head set bushings eventually failed from the trike being hammered into every object (moveable or immoveable) on the playground, and the excess pressure on the plastic bushings. When I received the new bushings, I took the time to bend and realign the lower head set bracket. This time I only tightened the head set bolt to where is was just snug. So, with a minimum of effort, excellent customer service from the distributor, and some free replacement parts, the Kawasaki Trike is back in service joyfully taking a beating again.

The heavy use has also resulted in the grab handle at the back of the seat being broken (I forgot to ask for a new one when I called for the heat set bushings) and some of the paint has worn off where a second child would ride standing on the back axle housing. The little "shock absorber" also came apart, but I was able to screw it back together, this time with Locktite. Taking into account the kind of use this toy has endured, I'd say the wear and tear are about what I'd expect. Overall, it has held up well, and I like the fact that when things to break, it can be repaired with a minimum of fuss. Recommended.

It does what it needs to, however there is one key annoyance that keesp it from being on my wheels anymore.

It requires sealing tape, and even then, if you don't wrap enough it still may leak. If you are using tubulars, it would require removing the tire, and re-wrapping it. Then re-glue the tire. Needless to say I found another extender that has an o-ring that seals much more effectively and can be put on without taking off the tubulars.
