I have wanted to write this review for the Discount Ramps 3 Bike Hitch Rack for several weeks now, and it is finally raining so here we go. I took a very educated chance on the purchase of this rack after having studied just about everything that was available for the money and with the types of conveniences that this rack affords me. In short, I love it. No single rack is perfect and I have had many and used many more over my 60 years of biking. I carefully studied the support structure of this device and I knew I wanted a 2 1/4 inch receiver and not a 1 1/4" inch as well as the extra separation for my bikes that a 3 bike carrier offers even though I am only using it for 2 bikes at a time. This rack is well thought out and nicely designed and constructed. I have driven at very high speeds with expensive bikes on it over bumpy roads and many loads and unloads. I love it! Could I make a few changes? Yes but they probably would be peculiar to my purposes alone. It is light, easy to remove, load and fold up behind my van or truck. It is extremely functional for other things not just a bike rack and secures the bikes extremely well. I thought I would be taking it on and off my van after each use but to the contrary, I just leave it on all of the time now because it folds up and accommodates the rear door so well with the fold down feature. It is rugged, clean with good welds and I have no reservation about recommending it.
There is one detail that needs to be mentioned. The three swinging arm bars (I only use the long and the short ones for bike separation of the 2 bikes leaving the middle space free) really need to have a lock nut put on the inside of the twist knob to keep from losing the whole assembly should you forget to tighten up the knob after you have removed your bikes and are just driving around. I have noticed they loosen up if not tightened and that can be a problem. I also use a small rag around the cross bar of the bikes where the shielded rubber clamp secures the bike. I find it helps protect the bike from any scratches when tight and should the rubber begin to wear. Also the instructions could be a little bit better concerning the swing arms and the swing arms do not have a part number for ordering separately. Easy fix!
I have one more thing of great importance here to mention. One of the three swing arms was missing from my order which I made through Amazon but the rack came from "Discount Ramps" in West bend WI. I called Discount Ramps to report the problem and was most cordially greeted and helped without reservation. 2 days later some parts arrived and I almost fell down at the mail box. No one it seems is this good at customer service anymore. Unfortunately there was a miss communication concerning the exact part. I called them back and wanted to know how to ship their part back. They would not hear of it and bingo.. 2 days later the right swing arm arrived along with another part. I was flabbergasted! These people are the absolute best! I cannot say enough about the great service I received from them and the great product they build. I figured I would have to wait 2 months for something to arrive from another land.
I am so happy with both the rack and the company I cannot say enough about them. Aside from the added lock nut in the handles, I cannot find anything but good things to say about this rack especially for the money. Highly recommend it and the company, Discount Ramps. Great rack, great price, and great service from everyone.

I have used this rack 15+ times. 3 cross country trips with 3 heavy early 90's Mtn. bikes in tow and is holding up quite well. The system is functionally very easy to use and adjust to fit bikes of multiple sizes. The materials are light weight and may not hold up for much of a beating. There is nothing out there that will touch this for the price. It also has the ability to swing down when lifting your rear hatch/tail gate etc...I guess the true test will be how long it holds up. The only real negative to me is the rubber that protects the bikes from the arms that hold them. Those busted within the first few uses.
