I have used the SRAM i-light dynamo for bicycle commuting at night for about a year,in all weather and it has never failed me. It provides flicker free light at low speed and powers up the headlight right away. I am very pleased with it and am about to purchase another one for someone elses bicycle that I am building a wheel for. The generator has worked in rain, snow , and extreme cold.

I was a bit worried that I would be adding too much drag to make it worth it.

I can't tell that it is there as drag is so minimal.

This thing failed after 6 months of use. I purchased it online and had it laced locally. Now I need to unlace it, ship it back, wait and have it relaced? What a POS and what a PITA; unbelievable, 6 months. I am extremely unhappy with this junk.

I respoked the hub and used my old rim. There is quite a bit of drag even with the light off, so I just pedal in a lower gear. You need a wheel truing stand to properly install this.
